The serpent

Hahah!!! Well, my son has a rosey boa, which are quite harmless, and I won't even begin to tell you how much "fun" I've had at other peoples' expense.

I should admit that it was a bull snake which looked like a rattler, they thought it was, and I used a lot of drama capturing it first…

There's nothing in the Genesis narraive that suggests a whole species, genus, or other taxonomic classification was cursed.

Very good observation.

It's more than that. The act of forcing the serpent to crawl on its belly and therefore eating dust of the ground was a cultural reference to being defeated. The Torah-era Jews would have understood the symbolic reference. Us today, not as much.

Ge 3:1 ¶ Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Ge 3:14 ¶ And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

I see here Satan was cursed but also see alot of snakes in the world eating dust. It fits that the animal and it's kind were also cursed.

there is nothing in the Genesis passage that even says satan was in the serpent or was the serpent or anything about satan at all. you have to go to the apocrypha to find that kind of theology.

No. Just go to John 8:44

Jhn 8:44 Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

The serpent was a liar. Satan is the father of lies. The serpent was possessed by Satan.

Scripture doesn't say it was a snake. It just says it was a serpent. Snakes are serpents, but most serpents are not snakes.

BTW, snakes generally don't eat dust. They're carnivours, and eat animals which they catch and kill (they typically don't eat carrion).
