I understand your point. However, if you think welfare is wealth then try living on it. I do not think you would feel wealthy.

There are those who are exceedingly wealthy and do not work. I believe that is also a sad life.

What you have done here is to place the word wealth into a specific cultural context. Wealth can be any amount not obligated. The size is irrelevant.

You're right. Wealth is an abundance of valuable possessions or money...which makes welfare anything but wealthy. You won't find one person who thinks a person trying to survive on welfare is wealthy. It's like a homeless person with a quarter may have more than the poor in another country but no one here (of course no one here with good sense) would call that man wealthy.

I was on welfare at one time trying to support my family... Jobs were scarce and I had been everywhere trying to find one... I went to the welfare department for an appointment and going up to the window... The person there asked me how can I help you?... If you have ever been to the Welfare Office it was packed... Wall to Wall people with children waiting for their turn... So I answered the person "You can help me find a job!... You could have heard a pin drop!:eek:... I guess I committed a cardinal sin... A man wanting to work for his welfare?... That was unheard of... Did I upset the apple cart!... Not soon after that I did get a job working for my welfare... Did I set a precedent?... I don't know only God does but I do know that soon after that incedent was a program instituted called "Workfare"... You work for your welfare... The government didn't give me a handout I worked for it... And held my head high!... Brother Glen

Would this include money made from speculating in the stock market?

As I recall you have bragged a lot about your personal success in that particular field.

Perhaps you might want to do a little personal introspection before lecturing others.
