I do not agree with your assessment of intent of the piece cited. If I had thought as you do I would not have posted it.

I see it as simply saying, let's stop chasing issues and start living as Christ commanded in Matthew.

We have no need to "start' as we are already doing that. Standing up for what is right can be done simultaneously. It is not an either or.

And I see you as a liar, and base it on your first sentence in this thread, and your subsequent attempts to ignore your own words.

I do not think we are doing such a great job of it. Certainly we can do better. I see few churches looking outside their walls and helping folk in need who do not darken any church door. I have see churches turn their backs on members in need ... and that is shameful. On the other hand I have seen a church go to extraordinary lengths to help others.

What you personally have seen does not mean you should broad brush all churches in general. Sorry but you are just wrong.

I don't believe I am broad brushing. I've been to a lot of churches. Have lots of friends all over this country and in Europe ... even a few in China. And I say that a majority are basically luke warm or worse when it comes to helping folk in need.

Here is an example of ministries of a church in my area and its satellite churches.

Why does the author of the OP believe that fighting for traditional marriage and helping the downtrodden are mutually exclusive?

One can oppose gay marriage and fight against abortion AND feed the poor, clothe the naked, and house the homeless all in the same day.

I agree, just don't involve the courts. Do it with the example of our lives and our love for others.

The Supreme Court found in the Dred Scott decision slavery was legal. And according to Crabby, that should have settled it.

Why did church goers insist on trying to turn over a SC decision, when they should have been following the teaching of Jesus and:

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,

I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,

I was a stranger and you invited me in,

I needed clothes and you clothed me,

I was sick and you looked after me,

I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
