I am beginning to see that you are a tribal chief.

If so I want all my followers to try to listen to and be understanding of those that they consider "other". And I point to the command of my chief.

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

You say that there is nothing wrong with being in a tribe. But no one is. Identity politics that you preach is just genetics. Have you noticed the insanity of the #NeverTrump people? It has been 500 days and they are still hysterical over a second-rate liar.

Everyone is in multiple tribes/communities. There is nothing wrong with being in a tribe. It is how we treat those outside the tribe and interpret information about others that is the problem. When everything about the "other" is purely seen through the lens of my tribe, that is tribalism.

Donald Trump and the rise of tribal epistemology

Yes. We both know (and many others here at BB) and actually realize "thy word is truth" is what should bind the only tribe that matters.

I am unclear as to what you are saying. Is this a jab at something I said or is this a pessimistic view of some future?

If it is something I said it looks like you misunderstood me.

No, it is a comment on the everchanging benchmarks of the left. It was only yesterday that we were to think locally and act globally because we were citizens of the world. Now we are back to being members of a tribe because Hillary lost an election and we are being accused of leaving our tribal reservation. There is no way to classify the opposition to Hillary and using genetics seems quite foolish even if one were an inveterate Darwinist.

Think globally act locally is exactly what I am encouraging. Think beyond your local tribe and consider the impact it has on other tribes. Act locally within your tribe and encourage the betterment of your tribe without the need to harm the other.

Tribalism says the opposite. Think only about our tribe and the others are our enemy. Anything bad for other tribes is good for our tribe and vice versus.

Amen. And this is how our tribal chief tells us to treat those of other tribes.

"You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect."

G Herbert Walker Bush's father (and GW Bush's grandfather) George prescott made a great deal of money selling arms to the Nazi's before and during WW2. I'd call that blatant treason. What would you call it/

JFK knew that LBJ belonged to the KKK when he chose him as a running mate.

I agree with that statement. In fact, I think that's indicative of what is underneath much of the world's problems these days, inequality. However, i think it's more serious to cooperate with an enemy during wartime.

Do you think that's as bad as collaborating with the Nazi's during WW2?

I don't think anyone likes or dislikes a particular candidate because they are on the other side. Sides have nothing to do with it. What its about is the policies they want to put into place. Everyone on this board is well thought out and has particular reasons. Its never just a side issue. Not sure why anyone would think otherwise.
