I met Bill Rice at Piedmont Bible College in 1984.
I went with a friend who was a student, as I was considering to go to PBC.
Bill spoke at chapel that day.
I remember two things:
1) He said he was going to tell us a Bible story that even most Bible students did not know.
(No I dont redeemer the story!)
2) He told us he was preaching a revival - and asked the pianist NOT to play while he was talking.
Well, she decided to play anyways - so Bill said he went over and physically removed her hands from the keyboard!

and BTW - I did not enroll at PBC - I ended up re-enlisting in the Army!

(John- have the books been shipped yet?)

I can see Bill Rice doing that. Shy he was not!!

No doubt that was the right path for you.

Alas, they have not. There have apparently been multiple problems with the printer, who is yet said to be very good. I think some of it has to do with the shortage of labor due to Covid, and there have been format issues, also.

.

I have come to realize that formal education is not my strong point
I learn a lot more with OJT as well as my own personal study.

And the Lord has used me in many ways after (as well as before) I re-enlisted.

"Through an ancestor from Scotland, Thomas McGehee (1645-1717), McGee was the sixth cousin of John R. Rice, a fellow fundamentalist and Baptist evangelist and pastor."
from Wki page about J Vernon Mcgee J. Vernon McGee - Wikipedia
If you didnt - is it too late to include?

Wow, did not know that! Very interesting.

Pretty sure it's too late for any additions to the book. The files are at the printer, and might be being printed this very minute! (I hope...!)

I characterized JRR as a Samurai in Ch. 3. The Samurai warrior aimed at something called bunburyoudou (文武両道), meaning "literature and fighting, both paths." The reason for this characteristic is that he was a warrior for truth, and yet produced some beautiful poetry in the hymns that he wrote.

This contrasts with the Renaissance Man of European thinking, being a somewhat narrower category, and being based on the fact that the Samurai were very dangerous warriors. Many who crossed swords (metaphorically) with John R. Rice learned this about him to their sorrow. He was a champion debater in college, and also did a formal debate years later with a Church of Christ preacher.
