This is not a debate forum, and I'm not here to to debate whether homeschoolers are demented or not (they're not). I've already visited "The View's" website, and left a message stating that Joy's comments were unacceptable and ignorant, and they should do some research to find out the real facts.

I urge all homeschool supporters to do the same.

Oh good heavens!

Of course every child who goes through public and private schools are perfectly adjusted in every way.

Too bad she doesn't see the statistics on the successes of homeschooling.

She's an idiot. Probably a product of the public school.

Most assuredly.

I've got a few private school kids right now who would definitely benefit from some more one-on-one time with their parents that homeschooling provides.

Maybe The View should schedule Tim Tebow as a guest next week. I wonder if Ms. Behar would be "absent" that day?

I hope all you home-school moms will write the "view" and give them a piece of your mind.

On the other hand, who cares what those liberal, feminist, man-hating wind bags think anyway.

I really don't like that show. Can you tell?

Bolded mine

These egotists feed off attention; positive OR negative. Typical of most (maybe all?) show-biz types.

Best way to deflate them is to ignore them!

Doesn't Joy's network ABC air the spelling bee in primetime now?
I wonder what she thinks about winners like homescholars Rebecca Sealfon and Evan O'Dorney?

A bit of a conflict I think...

Then Behar cut her off, saying, "A lot of them are demented when they're homeschooled. … They're afraid of children. They learn to be scared of other children."

Ok, usually demented means antisocial in a violent way. So, how can a home schooled kid be both demented and scared of others???

Ok, so, maybe a home school kid is a bit taken aback when forced back into public schools. I mean lets see they hate most Christians, carry knives and guns sell drugs and preach against things thier families hold dear...

Good grief, ****I'm**** afraid to go into public schools too! At 56 no less...

There are a couple of phrases that apply...

She has a short between the headsets and I am going to refrain from the second...

It seems to be the common world view of Homeschoolers. I often get comments at work where people wonder if my kids are well adjusted and know how to interact with others. I hear that so often that its begining to get unders my skin. My kids have friends just like other kids and strangely enough they are doing quite well. Not only are they getting a great understanding of History, science, but things that other kids their age seem to be lacking such as understanding civics, Latin, world history, etc (my oldest is 9 and is already much better read than I was at her age)... The fact that my kids don't know who Paris Hilton is or the current slang (to include swear words) doesn't equate to not being able to relate. I often get comments at restaraunts about how well my kids are behaved. I think it shows how one on one attention is superior and how lacking society is in properly training children. Public Schools seem to be satisfied with having metal detectors, security guards, kids telling each other that their going to "put a cap in"...you know where and teachers being abused. I recently saw a special were american students were rated against Belgian students and the americans were lacking. So much for the great public school system we have. My only fear is that society will be totally lacking in morals and the few children who have them will be persecuted for practicing them.

There are pros and cons to either system of education. To understand the public school system one must go back to when and why it started. A lot of parents had no schooling and it was an attempt to better enable kids to get a start in life. Try writing an examination dated back in the 40's. Many high school kids couldn't pass a simple English exam.

On the other hand, some parents to-day are not equipped to teach their child. My parents couldn't read nor write. How in earth could they teach me? Thank God for schools.

I have seen good and bad results from both systems. A lot depends on the teachers and the pupils and the parents. If one fails along the way, all may fail.

Not every parent can properly teach their child to drive a motorcar, eve though they may be a good driver.

Cheers,

Jim

Ok, the show is called The View, so I would expect folks to express their views...even ignorant and stupid ones. It just looked like women arguing to me.

You have to consider the source..... These are the same women who put down breastfeeding and condone homos*xuality.

I guess we should be offended, but we don't have a TV so what she says never reaches our home.

I wonder what the rate of unwed pregnancy among homeschoolers is, as opposed to government schooled children.

I wonder what the incarceration rate is among homschoolers, as opposed to government schooled children.

I wonder when the last time a homeschooled child walked into a public place and shot everybody.

I don't watch the View. I can't stand it. LOL

I had the President of a secular college tell me that he would much rather have home-schooled children apply because they test higher on their entrance exams (which is what they go by now) and are definitely more well-behaved and know how to study on their own.

Actually, I was thinking of cases where the shooter was not suffering from serious mental illnesses.

All things being equal, homeschooled students do not walk into public places and shoot them up, unless you're one of the liberals who claims that all homeschooled children are unbalanced.

The gentleman who lives just down the road from me is dean of admissions at the University of Delaware and he's told me many times that homeschooled students always get immediate attention because they're more prepared, academically, better socialized, and are more serious about their studies.
