I apologize. I assumed you were against all MV's. I'm a little touchy on that subject.
:1_grouphug:

Do not misunderstand, I am vehemently against [attack on the Word of God snipped].

This thread however, is only geared towards the NIV and those specific 17 verses.

I tell you this, not to derail the thread, but to be entirely honest.

If one wants to memorize verses or phrases that have been added to God's Word, that's your privilege.

I memorized a ton of verses in the AV language with hundreds of added, non-inspired man-made words in them.

And memorized some that were simply stuck in with absolutely no Greek in ANY Greek text to support them. Just sucked out of the thumb, God forbid.

Oh come now, all versions have to place other words in them to make complete sentences when translating from various languages to another language, any high schooler knows this from taking beginners spanish. The KJV translators were just honest enough to let us know what those words were by placing them in italics.

And "added to God's Word" is a falsehood.

BTW, what are some of those verses with absolutely no Greek in ANY greek text to support them? I would sure be interested in looking into those accusations (genuinely).

This is offensive AND agaist this forums' rules for posting.

Just answering a question in truth.

So as not offend those who are thin skinned on the issue, let me say

"Do not misunderstand, I am vehemently against all modern versions past the KJV, which are perversions to me"

Can you handle that? Is that to hard a saying as well? (I only have a couple of levels of speaking the truth in love... I have about used them up... and therefore have no other way to speak this truth) But if you need silence me... by all means, take aim.

Who do you think gets more pleasure from Christians making fun of the Bible, regardless of the translation, God or Satan?

Well, I guess I'll take back my apology. I did misunderstand you. I'm sorry that you feel that way.
I guess it doesn't matter that my beliefs are solid and biblical, because I learned them outside of the KJV. Just like it doesn't matter how many people have misinterpreted the KJV because of it's archaic language.

My Bible is not perverted. You should be ashamed.

I think Satan is thrilled with Christians who look down on other Christians.

It's amazing how someone judges another person simply by the version of scripture they read.

Mam, I would appreciate it much if you wouldn't put words in my mouth. I said nothing of your beliefs in regards to doctrine. I myself was saved while using an NIV and spent many of my early years as a Christian using such, learning quite a few foundational doctrines with it.

You are welcome to take back your apology, I just wanted to be honest and to try and not be a respecter of persons.

Your word against mine, until eternity comes. And I think you should be ashamed. Will either of us? Not likely. If in years to come I change my stance, I will do just that though, and publickly apologize as a gentleman should.

I pray this is not concerning me, for those would once again be words put into my mouth. I remember where I was when I was lost and undone, and when witnessing I try and keep that in mind. In the same sense, I remember when I used other versions and did not stand as a KJVO and I try and keep that in mind. If you would look back over my threads, I rarely make an issue over Bible versions on this forum because there are not ears to hear for the most part.

Well, of course you said something in regards to my doctrine. How can one possibly learn correct doctrine from a perverted Bible?

per·vert·ed
–adjective 1. Pathology. changed to or being of an unnatural or abnormal kind: a perverted interest in death.
2. turned from what is right; wicked; misguided; distorted.
3. affected with or caused by perversion.

Brother Williams, I would still like to see an honest answer from you to this question.

And therein lies a conundrum for KJVO's...

I have heard like testimonies countless times from KJVO proponents that they were saved, discipled, matured, etc, through the use of a MV. Yet, they have the gall to deny that someone else might do the same since they have come to the 'knowledge' that the KJV is the ONLY Bible and all others are perverted.

(OTOH, there are a number of doctrinal errors that sprung from groups using the KJV- JW's, Baptismal regeneration, etc. None to my knowledge have sprung from any MV's.)

I would say to you, what has become perverted is your understanding of God's preservation of His word.

I have been around KJVO since the time it really got started back in the 70's. It was a man-made issue then and it is still a man-made issue. There won't be any awards in Heaven for those who wasted, yes - WASTED - thousands of hours and millions of dollars trying to prove their point- either pro-KJVO or con-KJVO.

I personally think the OP is a childish, and immature attempt at slandering God's word, the NIV.

Then to call it a perversion is against the forum rules...
You need to read the rules Bro. Williams.

Just because the KJV added words to the Bible does not discredit the NIV.

Bro William - public note to you about your attacks on God's Word. You cannot do that and enjoy posting here. Your dripping piety notwithstanding, you have been warned. Use perversion about my Bible again and you'll be on the outside looking in.

And you want an example of a phrase in the AV that is NOT in ANY Greek, just added by man? I gave it, but you obviously didn't each catch on. :(

I caught it, even though I use the NASB primarily.

No you did not give anything of the sort.

"God forbid" in 1611 understanding is no different than "may it not/never be" as it is commonly given today.

So....please....teach us... oh great one.

If you read Gods Word, neither "God" nor "Forbid" are in ANY Greek text in those verses. That people in 1611 understood something (which we, of course, don't) makes no difference. The words were not in the inspired Word of God and put into a translation. Now if they had used the English equivalent "may it not me", there'd be no issue.

And don't be silly with your groveling at my feet. :love2:

I believe you must have missed this part of my post, "Mam, I would appreciate it much if you wouldn't put words in my mouth. I said nothing of your beliefs in regards to doctrine. Peculiar we are! ALso, I have not denied someone learning from an MV to myknowledge.
