So a person has a right to vote - doe that mean the government must provide them transportation to the polls?

Along with the right to vote? There is also responsibility. Of those complaining about showing ID, how many actually know who the candidates are? How many actually know what the issues are and how the candidates stand on those issues.

Is it the responsibility of the govt to provide a subcribition for the local newspaper to the individual so he can read about the issues?

Take some initiative and get some ID - and show you are responsible.

Without ID and without registration, what would keep the Democrats honest? Oh, that's a rhetorical question. Democrats don't want honest elections because they can't win those.

As was pointed out above, LBJ got his start by stealing an election in Texas.

Finally, there is no evidence that the rich believe in one-man-one-vote: the rich believe that the number of votes per person should be based upon property. For example, a guy has five mansions in five states and looks down his nose at the lower classes--should he have five votes just because he is a Democrat?

Who ever said anything like that?

Might as well ask how many with IDs know who the candidates are.

Is it the responsibility of the govt to provide a subcribition for the local newspaper to the individual so he can read about the issues?

What in the world are you banging on about?

I'm not sure what it is that is so hard to understand that the reasons a person cannot be denied the vote does not guarantee anyone a vote. If you think not, name one person who currently has the right to vote for whom that right absolutely cannot be taken away for any reason whatsoever.

Strawman....

The constitution does not guarantee anyone the right to vote. And there is certainly no provision therein that forbids identifying oneself.

That's right

My mom gave up driving 9 years before she died. But she always kept a a current ID from the same department that issues driver's licenses, as there are other valid reasons to do so.

imagine that

Of all the reasons I recall that students missed classes and/or traveled 'home,' a lot were miniscule compared to voting.

It was a dumb reason to begin with

It's what Obama and Holder wanted, when they refused to prosecute the Black Panthers for trying to intimidate voters. It's what Lyndon Johnson wanted in 1954 because a private organization encouraged people to vote for his opponent It's what the Democrats wanted when the results from Florida determined the presidential election-- in 1876, not 2000. So yes, that is what a lot of people want.

The whole point in being against voter id for the most part is to allow illegitimate voters to vote.
