HP: What does that matter? Are not all humans, or angels for that matter, created by God?
Yes, it matters. All were created by God, originally. Man is not created by God now. He is born of man, born with a sin nature.
The Bible specifically says that had they eaten of the fruit of the tree of Life they would have had eternal life.HP: There is absolutely no indication that Adam, IN THE FLESH, was created to live forever in this physical world. Scripture tells us that EVERYTHING that is seen is temporal, not eternal.
The whole human race was condemned because of his sin. Even all creation fell under the curse. Everything is in a state of decay. Nothing escapes the curse of Adam, including our bodies, and including our sinful natures. Why do we have to teach infants to tell the truth??HP: They were condemned for their sin. We are condemend for ours. There was physical consequence that indeed have fallen upon their posterity, but that does not constitute 'sin' as being an 'unavoidable' consequence. Read again the words of God Himself to Cain.
"They come forth from the womb speaking lies."
Sin was imputed to Adam, not to Eve for Eve was deceived. When God issued out punishment Eve was there and received her judgment. Eve had sinned and paid the consequence, a consequence which would fall upon all women. That in itself only bolsters the dogma of original sin and the depravity of man.HP: Then Eve did not sin according to you? If sin is not imputed there is not sin. Sin is a judgment of God upon disobedience, not a 'thing."
God did judge the actions of Eve. Have you not read Genesis chapter three. I advised you to do that some time ago.If God does not judge ones actions as sin, it is not sin.
And it was. And Eve received punishment for it.When Scripture states that 'sin is not imputed,' it does not mean sin existed but it did not. Either sin exists and it's corresponding penalty, or it does not. No penalty? No sin. Penalty is involved? Sin is involved.
However, Adam's punishment was greater, and the consequences were greater. Adam was to some extent responsible for Eve. We might consider him the head of the household.
How is it possible that you being a depraved person from birth do good? The answer is you cannot.HP: I would absolutely agree with your comment here as it is stated. Our disagreement is in what does that 'depraved nature consist of, and is it in and of itself sin. Being prone to sin is NOT to say that sin is unavoidable. If sin is unavoidable, sin cannot be blameworthy. If God is going to blame a leopard for his spots or the Ethiopian for his skin...... ( I will let you finish that sentence for me. ) How would you finish that sentence DHK?
The leopard had spots from his birth. It was his nature.
The Ethiopian had black skin from his birth. It was his nature.
They both were accustomed to their spots and skin respectively.
Man has a depraved nature from his birth. He is accustomed to committing sin from his birth onward. He cannot do good in the sight of God that will merit him righteousness.
