Cute anecdote: I live in Wyoming and for years was driving home from teaching College in Minnesota (13 hours - I commuted every other week back to see the wife). I stopped to pick up day-old donuts at Wall Drug in South Dakota.

Saw a big bus with Dallas on it parked and inside Wall Drug were 20 college/grad students. I mentioned that I had lived in Dallas and been dean of a college/taught there. Come to find out that they were ALL STUDENTS THERE on a choir tour!

When I told them who I was, they all were elated - they were all taking my course (30 workbooks, cassette tapes, etc) and listening to them in the bus as they went cross country!

Got my pix taken with a number of them who thought it was so kewl to meet the "voice" that they'd been hearing for months!

Boy, isn't that the truth. For all my "celebrity fame", (to 20 people) I still can't get a free up of coffee at McDonalds!

(Trust me, most writers of high school or college texts have focused DEATH WISHES from the students trapped in long hours of work!)

On the other hand why would one want one?

"most writers of high school or college texts have focused DEATH WISHES from the students trapped in long hours of work!"
I know, that's why I think you must be good at writing school books.

My DMin dissertation was on "Current Trends in Fundamentalism." I took a survey of over 100 IFB randomly selected pastors or Christian workers that dealt with a number of key issues, such as doctrinal questions, current men and movements, standards, and philosophy of ministry. I used an age breakdown to try to determine if the younger men (under 35) were substantially different than the older men (over 35). [IMG] The outcome of the survey revealed that there was no "generation gap" among IFBs. One conclusion I can remember was the importance of older men teaching and mentoring those who were coming along behind. This kind of reminds me of the poem "The Bridge Builder" by William Drumgoole. ;)

I was in teachers education working on
a Masters of Education (never complete).
One acquaintence wanted to try to proove
there was more teaching freedom in California
than in Oklahoma. She sent off a
    hunderd questionares to California
Administrators and 100 to Oklahoma Admins.
She got back 8% filled qustionares from
teachers in California and 67A% in Oklahoma.
She thought the small turnout in California
ruined her study. Not so. It proved that
California had NO say in what the teachers
there teach or do in their spare time either [IMG]

    Amen;

I teach Rhetoric, Public Address, Interpersonal Comm, at a small SBC college in Memphis. I am somewhat of a rhetoric/communications scholar (or @ least a serious student). I would like to know what "communication's theory" you used in your DMin? "Let's talk!" Email me if interested.

    sdg!
