Things not to debate here on the BB

I have learned the hard way not to get sucked into a conversation about these topics.

Calvinism

Modern Bible versions

Saddleback/Rick Warren

Rock Christian Music....( sounds like an oxymoron to me)

What to wear to church.

What else have I missed?

Believe it or not, the Bible versions issue seems to stir up folks the most

To that, add Landmarkism, end times theology and all the associated terms, politics (the most ridiculous argument of all, which is more Godly, the Democrats or Republicans, lightning, please do not strike), creation (days vs eras), open or closed communion, alcohol, gluttony, etc, etc, etc........ A bunch of issues that have nothing to do with salvation or the Gospel.

Actually I enjoy the politics debates, and am still amazed that christians support abortion...but thats another whole topic...

Yeah, the recent thread on creation sparked some arguments.

Oh, I left out Isreal. Want to get a bunch of Baptists in an uproar? Ask them about God's promises to Isreal.

All should be able to be discussed. It is just how we conduct ourselves while doing so that determines whether it is edifying or not.

I agree that issues like abortion should not even be up for debate. That is one of the few black and white issues. As far as politics, I can debate anyone with a difference of opinion. What bothers me in that area is that there is little or no difference between the two parties. They are both controlled by power hungry thugs that have no interest in the American people.

B-I-N-G-O!!!!!!!!

not to mention...it helps when one has the spiritual gift of sarcasm, like me...

The good: I can discuss most things.
The bad: no one takes me seriously.
The ugly: I have no idea...but it always follows "the good" and "the bad."

See what I mean? I'm discussing it, and you've already dismissed me... :D

Which leads me to...

OTHER THINGS NOT TO DEBATE:

When you wake the baby up, the reason you give your wife is NOT up for debate. Just take your medicine. It's your fault. Completely. End of discussion.

I know my baby, and from what I see in Rbell, that wouldnt be a good idea...they'd just play and laugh, and not let anybody sleep!:sleeping_2:

Well, you've just eliminated all the things I like to discuss. You trying to get rid of me, or sump'n?

Not at all. There is still Arminianism, the Universal Church, the Da Vinci code, Baptismal regeneration, and speaking in tongues, all of which you speak highly in favor of at church. Folks, do you wonder why we are always on the opposite side?

I enjoy the debate here on BB. The problem is not the topics but people who take themselves to seriously. Just take some completely biblical herbal pharmaceuticals and relax.

I remember a quote from Tom Williams that has been one of my favorites ever since I heard him say it at a revival, he said, "If I didn't have anything better to talk about than short-shorts, wire rimmed glasses, and two-toned shoes, I'd pack up my stuff and go home."

Now where is the fun in that, I ask?

Maybe we should debate which herbal pharmaceuticals are actually biblical.
