This Election

I was born in January of 1945 so I am what is, popularly, known as a War Baby. To be perfectly honest, I have a crappy history. If I were to tell it all I could easily be classified as one needing entitlement. That, Christian and other friends is pure manure! Here in Texas we have much stronger word we use on the ranges and fields but I began this with a word that many, with a decent sense of right and wrong will object to and I ask their indulgence, this once.

This nation began with the Christian Pilgrims and was founded and grew to greatness following those principals. Today, it is authoritatively reported by and on Fox that forty-seven percent of all Americans do not pay one penny of their obligation to support this nation and yet the scream at the top, less than, ten percent, who pay seventy percent to GIMME!

During the first 3.5 years this gentleman in the Oval Office has driven over 500,000 industrial jobs out of the U.S. And into China and who knows where else. And still, Obama leads in the polls?
The same man that tried to deceive the nation into accepting that this, just past, 9/11 attack in Libya and Egypt was just a reaction to a 13 minute film clip is in the lead? The man that promised, before the '08 election, to weaken the U.S. to the point of a third world nation?

I call each of you to read your Bible! If a man refuses to work, he shall starve to death. (2Thes. 3:10) There are many points worth discussing and this is a discussion starter so please, speak to me.

The first point to discuss is why Obama is ahead in the polls, despite the accurate record you posted. Any Republican candidate that was moderate to conservative that could articulate his ideas would be light years ahead. The only reason Obama is ahead is the Republican nominee. His campaign has not come out clearly stating the differences. He has made a string of media gaffs, including the 47% remark. Romney creates no enthusiasm for his candidacy. Doubts still linger in the South about his religion and record as governor of Massachusetts. It takes a lot to unseat a President. It has only happened twice in my life, Carter and Bush. In 1980, the Carter record was horrible, but the Republican nominee was a conservative, and Carter got crushed.

The Romney campaign has been less than stellar. It is not going to change my vote, but the perception is terrible. Also, I have heard from among vets since the 47% remark, they are taking the remark as a slap against their benefits such as health care, compensation, and the GI bill. This does not help him either, along with not mentioning the military or vets in his nomination speech.

He needs to do something and quick. Carrying Kentucky and South Carolina does not win elections. Romney needs to be in the ten or eleven swings states pounding home his message and sharpening the differences with Obama, painting a crystal clear picture, no gray areas. Time spent is states that he has no chance in winning or losing is a waste of time. He could spent every moment in New York and California until election day and it would do him no good.

He must also stop the media gaffs giving Obama more material for ads. He also has to inspire people, not put them to sleep. One of the main things that needs to be in every speech is the gap between pride in self accomplishment vs the laziness of doing nothing all day. He has got to convince people that a democracy is run by a free market, which means jobs at home, people spending to create new jobs. What is so ironic is that this is the best way to balance the budget. The better the economy is doing, the more revenue the government brings in. That along with spending cuts (not really even cuts, just a cut in the rate of increase) would do wonders for our nation.

Romney needs to exhibit leadership now, and let the people know he is going to hold Congress's feet to the fire and demand a budget. In other words, make them do their job, regardless which party controls the houses. Obama has shown no leadership or ability to work with Congress. Congress takes off more days than they work, and when in session, play political games. The main cause is a lack of leadership from the White House.

If Romney cannot convey these concepts over the next six weeks, he is going to lose.

No, billwald, you are wrong. It started with NAFTA and then CAFTA, when Newt was Speaker of the House and reached across the aisle to pass NAFTA under Bill Clinton, and actually, I believe the preliminary work for it was done under Bush Sr. Check your facts, you'll see I am correct.

I remember how NAFTA was promised to produce American jobs, even Rush Limbaugh was on board! I was floored. Anyone, not necessarily a rocket scientist or an economics professor, could see that if wages were cheaper in Mexico, that would be where the companies would go.

Bush2 was responsible for granting China normal trade relations - it passed under a Republican controlled Congress and Bush Jr. signed it into law in January 2002.

We can thank BOTH parties and all the above administrations for the giant sucking sound of jobs leaving America. There isn't a drop of daylight between any of them. :tear:


ROMNEY? I am going to vote for him, but it doesn't look good. He is taking advice from the wrong people and "playing" politics like it was played in the past. He and his advisors apparently don't know how to play hard ball, and that is what is required in this political landscape if he expects to win. If he blows, even the first debate, he is a goner.
