    Not all old shots, more parts of Sydney were recently updated to high-res....

    ....Although why anyone would want to look at that dump is beyond me... :eek: :confused: :D

    I found it interesting because I always wanted to see how much forest there was between our house and the airport. Those commercial jets seem to pop up out of the trees and sometimes we sit and watch them taking off or landing (depending on wind direction) parallel to our house. Also wanted to check out the Interstate and see how far it is, too, because certain ways the wind blows we can hear the Interstate traffic. Now I know. :D

    Still would enjoy going up in a helicopter and see the whole area from there. Maybe some day. [​IMG]

    Something else that is even more AWESOME -

    When we see the globe and then zoom into our very homes from satellite, to think of it, to ponder it, to think that Our Great God, Creator of All, loves the little ant on this planet - Me - enough to send His Son to die for me so that I can spend eternity with Him - why should He bother? That's what is Truly AWESOME!

    BTW: The satellite images are updated continually based on population density or popularity. Some areas are updated very often, some haven't been updated for years. But updates are made almost daily.

    A cool thing to do is to go to a big city, and then enable buildings. Now click on tilt and zoom in.

    Also, sign up for the community forums. Lots of cool stuff there.

    I can say for a fact the pictures in my town were taken in June or July of 2004. I know this because a mall was torn down in June of 04 (this demolition is clearly visible) yet you can see no damage from Hurricane Charley which struck on Aug 13. The pictures must have been taken sometime last summer.

    I downloaded it and tried to check out where I work. The pics were out of focus (unfortunately), and from 2+ years old.

    My boss bought the warehouse I run about a year and a half ago. At the time, it, along with the entire block, was a junk yard full of old cars and parts. There is a watertower that stands in the middle of the building (the building was built around it), and the pic still had the trees in the center with the watertower, as well as all the old cars around the property.

    Needless to say, the place has changed a lot. My boss loves to give people tours of the warehouse, especially those who knew what it was, or had seen it before he started renovating it.

    Well theres goes my privacy as I knew it! :eek:
    But then we should remember that God is watching us all the time and live accordingly.
    So if your gonna do something in the privacy of your own back yard that is probley risque (or sinful!).....you may want to re think it and ask yourself am I being watched? [​IMG] BTW, I like how you can get global positioning and sea level at the bottom of the map too. [​IMG]

    They may cycle threw and slowly update. I'm sure it takes awhile to take a picture of every house in the USA [​IMG]
