I will say research and data is flawed when it is flawed. And when we have good positive data from a RCT I will be more than happy to encourage its use even if Trump says the same thing.

But you've already admitted we have some good positive data. That's why you're playing both sides.

I have no problems agreeing with Trump when his statements are based on good science and the truth, like his current coronavirus plan.

Indeed. He's done a fantastic job.

I also have no problem with Trump being overly optimistic about hydroxychloroquine before stronger evidence came out. I held the same opinion.

So now you were overly optimistic. This is rich. I can see you in the near future hinting you're thankful Trump reluctantly listened to you about this drug.

However where he went too far was to make a medical recommendation on its use. That was premature given the evidence and his lack of expertise in the area. Allow it to be used by doctors based on their medical experience and case by case judgement, sure that is warranted.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Are you actually referring to the fish tank cleaner hoax?

Otherwise, this is just gibberish--trying to play to both sides. All evidence of TDS.

So now you're using the term "little strong evidence." Interesting. That's an admission we have some strong evidence.

Okay, no strong evidence is more accurate.

And we'll all expect an apology from you if he's vindicated. Fair?

Apologize for what exactly? I have been supportive of Trump’s enthusiasm for hydroxychloroquine.

My skepticism is in the data of its actual effect. When we get better data that will change.

So no strong evidence, yet you're overly optimistic. Got it. You're now given Joe Biden a run for his money.

My skepticism is in the data of its actual effect. When we get better data that will change.

And this is why Trump is not looking to you, but actual experts. These experts are gleaning many nuggets from the incomplete data seeing strong evidence from it. There's a reason so many doctors are treating patients with these various cocktails including chloroquine.

This tweet is going too far.

Donald J. Trump on Twitter

Being enthusiastic and allowing doctors to use it is one thing. Telling folks they should be using it is another thing.

Prez: "HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE & AZITHROMYCIN, taken together, have a real chance....."

Really? This too for, according to a guy that says he's overly optimistic about no strong evidence? No, what you said is going to far (and frankly silly).

Trump, on the other hand, relying on actual experts, says these drugs have a chance, and that's out of bounds to you.

I take it back, you've just passed sleepy Joe.

The end of the tweet says

“Hopefully they will BOTH (H works better with A, International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents). be put in use IMMEDIATELY. PEOPLE ARE DYING, MOVE FAST, and GOD BLESS EVERYONE!”

Maybe he did not mean that to be medical advice or advice to doctors. But if so, should have been worded better.

You have a problem with Trump saying "hopefully......" ????????? This is classic TDS. You need to quarantine yourself immediately from all mainstream media. Only Tucker and Laura Ingraham for 30 days.

Trumps decision to support certain anti-viral drugs was based more upon good espionage plus leak intel rather than good science.

It was working in France. Then Trump picked up on it mentioning it in his briefing and then all h... broke loose among the democratic opposition and MSM and some of the non practicing policy dictator doctors.

I noticed on NBC news with Lester Holt the dialog seemed to change a couple days ago turning more positive towards Chloroquine and Azithromycin being a potential game changer.

probably he believed it because of his intel.

Read the rest of the sentence. Telling people what he thinks works better, wanting these drugs to be used right away. There are commands in there to use these drugs and move fast from your commander in chief. That is medical advice.

He probably didn’t mean it that way but that is how a lot of people misconstrued this carelessly worded tweet.

So no strong evidence, yet you're overly optimistic.

RCTs (randomized control trials) are considered strong evidence. Anecdotal evidence is considered weak evidence.

We have no strong evidence available at the moment but some is coming soon through the pipeline that are cause for hope.

We have lots of weak anecdotal evidence which also gives us hope that I was enthusiastic about. And it was enough to begin more study and use the drug more widely in clinical situations. But that is balanced by other pieces of anecdotal evidence that state that it is not very effective in severe cases. Additionally some of our positive anecdotal cases are not as promising as initially stated on further evaluation. If you just look at the evidence that gives you the result you want, you will be easily mislead.

This is normal in medical research. We often get grand promises early on that later are found to be very pedestrian or even false when people dig further and try to reproduce findings or study it more rigorously.

There was nothing wrong with the tweet. The entire tweet is fine. Hoping the FDA and doctors decide it's working and put into use is a good thought.

You have TDS which makes you hyper sensitive about everything he says. That's the only thing that explains it.

Ok. Thanks for the diagnosis.

There is a lot of data starting to come in about hydrocychloroquine and other trials too. So this thread will be busy in the next little while. Hopefully it is good news.

Just a suggestion. 30 day quarantine from MSM. Try a regiment of a little Tucker, maybe some Hannity. Take in some good preachers. Just a recommendation.

On a serious note, yes, we'll learn more as this progresses.

Thanks for the advice but I don’t actually read or watch news from MSM and most definitely not from the US.

Well, let me know where you get your news and political leanings. I'm not a professional, but I'd be happy to take a look.
