This New Poll Should Terrify the GOP Establishment

According to a new poll, nearly half of Republicans say they will leave the Republican Party to join a third-party created and led by former President Donald Trump. That doesn't bode well for the Republican establishment.

The new poll by Suffolk University-USA Today found a whopping 46 percent of Republicans are willing to leave the GOP in order to a join new party created by Donald Trump. Just 27 percent of Republicans said they would stick with the GOP, and the rest are undecided.

"We feel like Republicans don't fight enough for us, and we all see Donald Trump fighting for us as hard as he can, every single day," said Brandon Keidl, a 27-year-old Republican and small-business owner from Milwaukee. "But then you have establishment Republicans who just agree with establishment Democrats and everything, and they don't ever push back."

Well, I for one am considering removing my name from the "R:" slot and getting an "I". Fact is, the only reason I chose a definite party was to be eligible to vote in the primaries. Hoped to get a good replacement for Graham last go-round, but---!:(

If there is a third-party created by Trump, and it is anything substantial, then things can get interesting real fast. If the Democrats keep their party together they can solidify their hold.

Trump will be old if still alive.
The Church should pray and raise up a Christian candidate.Republicans are divided. Democrats are divided.
We need an Al Moehler, Kind of person, Steve Lawson,Sinclair Ferguson , caliber of Christian who is sophisticated politically, financially, who can draw on Christians to repent and obey God.
If the church fails to repent God will continue to bring this nation down.

I disagree. A 3rd Party (a Trump Party) would not take votes away from the Democrats but would from the GOP. You would end up with two weak (number wise) conservative parties and one intact Leftist party.

The DNC would, INHO, have no problem maintaining the Presidency. It would be handed to them by the Trump party.

Actually, it does. Many real Republicans (not Trumpists) have left the GOP because it is Trump's party, a cult of personality, not Republican convictions. If Trump supporters leave, real Republicans can reclaim their party and be done with the Trump nonsense. It is probably the best outcome they could hope for. They could possibly survive and become viable again if they repent of their ways to the American public.

About 3.5 years ago I suggested that the Republican Party won't survive Trump. At the midterm elections where the Republicans lost the House, I suggested again that the Republican Party may not survive Trump and could go the way of the Whigs. Those predictions seem to be coming true with the further loss of the Presidency and the Senate.

But I doubt Trump will start his own party since he is fundamentally lazy, and has a lot of criminal and civil liability to deal with.

Look what happened after the Whigs went south - the same will probably happen if there's a third party that can get properly "anchored" - around issues and policies, not a leading figure. If this party is built around one figure - George Wallace, Dixiecrat. Ross Perot, AIP, it will eventually just be swallowed up by one of the two now main political parties.

Floored to see anybody ever claim that Donald Trump is lazy, that idea is TDS in its most delusional form.

Trump said that he was not interested in starting a third party. He certainly is not lazy, and he is definitely not dumb. I suspect that he knows (at least form a business experience) that if he deprives one business (the GOP) of its resources (voters) that the competition will take over.
