or "Death of the Puritans; Birth of Easter Bunny in America".

Well, Its time to get the discussion started.
What do you think would be the more accurate title.

One has to ask themselves which is more important,
and it does have to be "either/or" not "and/or".
Recent Tradition or Biblical Adherence.

I would like to have a respectful discussion. I know it will not
be easy. I promise not to strike the first blow.

Let's start with factual statements and "try" to keep emotion to a minimum.
I understand it's difficult and painful to ponder the letting go of a life long tradition held by generations. But should we kill this "old friend".

The reason for the "day" and any celebration comes from the Hebrew word "Pasach" referencing the day of judgement leading to the deliverance of Abraham's descendants from the Egyptian bondage. Read Exodus 12

This is my go to in moderation

My kids are grown men. No egg hunting but we do share omelets from time to time.

Certainly, I expected a lot of "off topic" rhetoric. Not necessarily from you. I may need to examine that box I originally placed you in. ;)

I'm not giving rhetoric. I'm telling you some of the reasons I enjoy Easter. I enjoy seeing my children enjoy themselves. I enjoy chocolate.

None of that takes away from my worship of our Lord. He is first and and most important. The other activities associated with Easter are not things I worship or part of my worship.

We are allowed to enjoy life.

But, I never posed the question "Why do people enjoy Easter". But did other questions. Therefore your remarks were rhetoric. :)

Government sanctioned Holidays cannot mandate everyone celebrate the resurrection of Christ. So it is common for a purely fanciful celebration to occur on the same day for the sinners among us. Our government is based on treating saints and sinners with respect. I think the courts have gone too far in protecting the rights of sinners, and have trampled on the rights of the saints. But the fix for this issue to for a majority of voters to throw the rascals out, or replace them with folks who actually try to protect the constitution.

Many churches have a "fall fling" or some such event at the end of October, for the kids to go somewhere where life and joy are celebrated, rather than Ghosts and wickedness.

But lets not emulate Islamic terrorists and try to compel others to comply with our view.

Whether the Gubment sanctions this celebration or nah, God ordains it. Yes?

We celebrate Purim instead. The food is better, you get to wear costumes and boo at the bad guy.

The Easter Bunny is evil. The rabbit ears are a clever disguise for the devil-horns.

My eyes are hurting from all the "tears of laughter" at y'all's witty replies. Stop it. Please.

Don't want to discuss the Passover now okay. How about this.

"What does one find when looking at the celebration of Easter? The term “Easter” is certainly not Christian, and is of Chalcedonian origin. Easter is nothing else than Astarte, one of the titles of Beltis, the queen of heaven, whose name, as pronounced by the people at Nineveh, was evidently identical with that now in common use today. That name, as found by Layard on the Assyrian monuments, is Ishtar – the devil or Satan.[1]

Worship of the devil in this way was introduced to the English people through the Druids who worshipped the devil through nature.

Take a moment and note that Romanism or Druidism for that matter, would not openly say “they are worshipping the devil.” Of course they would deny it. However, the Scripture is exceedingly clear that any doctrine not brought to men through the Triune Godhead, and the Savior Jesus Christ, is a doctrine of demons and therefore, a worshipping of the devil. This certainly applies not only to the contemporary church when it introduces destructive heresies, or twists Paul’s words to their own destruction, as Peters states, but also applies to false religious ideas that pull people away from the one true Savior and only God Jesus Christ. One cannot introduce false religion without partaking of demonic influences and devil worship in that light." (excerpt taken from http://www.apuritansmind.com/the-christian-walk/easter-the-devils-holiday-by-dr-c-matthew-mcmahon/)

Any point in here you care to discuss or refute?
