Ebie Hussey's first reaction when her son announced that he is gay was to offer unconditional love.
Finding a new church was a close second.
"His first question was, 'Am I going to hell?' " Hussey said of that conversation with her son, Jaxn. "Mainstream Christianity and fundamental Christianity really pushes that homosexuality is a sin, and he had caught on to that....

That is good that he realizes his destiny is hell if he does not repent of his sin and trust Christ to save him. Hopefully he is brought to a church that preaches the necessity of the new birth as the answer to a nature permeated by sin.

Did you read the article? He doesn't realize his destiny is hell. He and his family searched and found a "church" that welcomes gays and does not preach against it.

No, I didn't read the article. I just made a general truth statement regardless ofthe article. However, that demonstrates how warped some churches are in America and that we do live in the day of Sodom and Gormorrah where right is wrong and wrong is right. I will read your article.

I read the article - sickening! Romans 12:2 speaks directly to these perverted ministries. We are not to conform to this world but be transformed. There is no unconditional love available except "IN" Christ and one must be "CREATED in Christ Jesus" by regeneration/quickening (Eph. 2:1,5,8-10a) which is inseparable from true repentance from sin and faith in Jesus Christ to save you from your sins.

Jesus said it best, "Except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish" - Lk. 13:3

Because of the rapid growth in the homosexual community I believe that there needs to be a clear spirit of love in the church to these people with frank and open teaching as to what is required for salvation. While we are all tempeted in various and differing manners none of us has to carry out those temptations once saved.

Salvation is for sinners only and homosexuals are sinners. The Biblical purpose for the congregation is not for the lost but for the saved. It is designed by God to be a house of worship where the saints are taught how to observe all things commanded. Evangelism is connected with "go" not "come."

I believe one reason churches are in decline is that they have altered God's purpose for the congregation and changed it into evangelism instead of teaching the saved.

Certainly the gospel should be preached from the pulpit and classroom but the emphasis should be upon training the saved and faithfully teaching the Word of God in a systematic manner

I totally agree. but the gospel is easier to preach Sunday after sunday then is the teaching of the believer and many of these pastors today are simply lazy. Yes they spend long hours in church work, but they shurk their responsibility to preach the whole council of God.

I am glad to see somebody not from the contemptible Primitive Baptists to whom I belong thinking along these lines.
thank you.
what you said about the purpose of a church is true and correct, and might I add, its purpose as well is to glorify God in their midst that the "heathen may know there is a God in Israel".
