I believe he refers to the incident on CBS that ended in Dan Rather's departure. However, one incident doesn't a campaign to embarrass anyone. It was an embarrassment to the network and Rather, not Bush. Bush is his own embarrassment.

Nope. He used documents that were supposedly typed during Bush's Air National Guard time that turned out to be recent forgeries.

As for Rather, he apologized on the air for not vetting the documents authenticity before airing them. Still he and several CBS News staffers ended up leaving. He now works at HDNet, owned by Maverick's owner, Mark Cuban.

It was an attempt to discredit a wartime president. I never said Bush was eloquent, he was quite clumsy. But don't tell me the mainstream media didn't work overtime to undermine him.

He was a "wartime president" by a war of his own making. And yes, that is what I am telling you, with maybe the exception of Olbermann, who told it unashamedly like he saw it. No worse than Rush's criticisms of the current President. And Bush had his own network in the Roger Ailes run, Fox News Channel, which was basically a PR machine for the GOP.

Are they not part of the "mainstream media" of which you alledge bias against Bush? And you cannot paint the entire media with the broad brush over a stupid mistake by CBS staffers. They weren't the ones who forged the docs...but they did not properly check their veracity.
