Democracy is the very best form of government that evil men have on this earth. The very best form of government in the universe will be in the Kingdom of God.

True, Joseph. I was referring to only earthly governments.

A lot of these arguments are assuming there are no alternatives to Hamas? Is hamas the only entity, couldn't they leave the terrorist party out of their reform? Or are there no alternatives because no one will stand up to a death treat from hamas if they were to compete with them for power?

Fatah was the alternative but it has been eaten away by corruption for years.

    Ken,

Everyone's hands are on the table now

Bloody hands on the table are still bloody hands. Terrorists in power are still terrorists in power. Whether they are elected or not.

Let's see if I can catch this eel: knowing what you know now, is the war in Iraq wrong or not? If it is not, why are you second guessing Bush now? Sure you supported the war initially but you say you would not go into Iraq knowing you now know.

What poetic justice. The Democratic Process at it's highest and most potent level. All that is good about the democratic form of government is now seen in it's final, futile death throw. You know it is really a wonderful time in which we live. All the political experts we have around us that tout the Democracies of the world are really saying they are smarter, more informed and have greater experience than the founders who wanted us to live in a Republic. I know, I know we live in a democratic republic....hogfat!

    Thanks -----Bart

And the Founders wanted this republic preserved through a written constitution and the vote.

    Ken,

Don't go knocking the voters because you don't like the results, ftr.

I am knocking the voters. They are the same monsters who were celebrating the deaths of 3,000 Americans at the hands of their terrorist animal brothers. And they just finished electing a bunch of terrorists to head their own government.

Exactly, a written constitution that had words with specific meanings. Not a fluid document that can be changed daily to fit the lives of those governed by it. We live in a time of Rex Lex. The people are king. The people are wicked and they are king. The people are king in Gaza and the people are wicked as a whole. The majority has spoken and they are wicked. We no longer live in a country of Lex Rex. Ken, you also mentioned the Vote. You are correct again. A check and balance system where the vote of the people could be balanced by another vote. That is gone today. Our Senators used to be elected by the state legislators. Now they are elected (you guessed it, once again, by popular vote). The founders gave us a republic and we lost it. We now live in the downward spiral of the democracy. A place where the people's vote is not checked.
WHEN THE WICKED RULE THE PEOPLE PERISH.

Hamas illustrates the problem when we try to export our Anglo-Saxon system, carefully nurtured and developed painstakingly over 1000 years, to a culture that is foreign to those gradually developed values.

Like many other similar situations, it may very well be "one man, one vote, one time." Here comes the (Sharia) judge!

If this gets bad enough, I might end up back on active duty--I would love it, and believe me, I can still get the job done, but my wife would "kneecap" me if she could shoot straight.

Well these people all look like the idiot savages they are on the FNC live feed right now. They can't even hold a rally without AK-47s and violence. And this is the Fatah rally. They are all nuts.

It will probably be a short lived government. They are too weak militarily to challenge Israel and if they did, it would lead to Palestine's destruction. The Palestians have to face they are going to have to live with Israel and seek a compromise with Israel. Unfortuntely Hamas has not shown the ability to bend as the Israeli's have been willing. Maybe now, they will come to realize that in order to govern and survive they must seek peace with Israel. We can only pray.

GAZA (Reuters) - Hamas and Fatah gunmen exchanged fire in the Gaza Strip on Friday, fuelling fears of Palestinian turmoil following the Islamic militant group's crushing victory over the long-dominant faction in a parliamentary election.....

.....The violence erupted, they said, after Hamas militants were angered by a sermon by a Fatah-appointed Muslim preacher during Friday prayers....
