Hey all,

Ever wonder what your "mansion" in heaven/NJ is gonna look like? What kind of materials are you sending?

I was wondering the other day if the story of The Three Little Pigs had a scriptural basis. You know -- Jesus went to prepare a place for us. He is the foundation no man can lay. Let everyone beware how he builds thereon.

I had a youth pastor once who gave a similar sermon (Y'all in MinniCity may have heard of him -- Mark Gold, anyone?). Said he arrived in heaven and, looking at the first "really nice digs" he saw, said to Jesus, "Wow! Is that mine?"

Jesus replied, "No. That might have been yours but..."

So we come to 1Cor 3:10-15. Imagine that Christ had to build your "mansion" out of "wood, hay, and stubble" -- just like the 2 unwise pigs. I mean, you're only going to get to heaven with what you "forwarded" there from your life.

But remember the wise pig? Did he give Jesus "bricks" of "gold, silver, and precious stones?" You do realize that "gold, silver, and precious stones" is what NJ is built out of, right?

When the "big bad wolf" blows his fire (3:13, 15), what will your "house" look like?

Maybe it would be good to find out what "gold, silver, and precious stones" are and what "wood, hay, and stubble" are. Are you ready? Read on -- 3:19-21

"For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. 20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. 21 Therefore let no man glory in men.

Do you see it? "Wood, hay and stubble" are the wisdom, the thoughts and the glory of men (position, possessions, power). "Gold, silver, and precious stones" therefore are the wisdom, thoughts and glory of God. (cf: Prov 16:16, 17:8 - "gifts" = spiritual gifts).

So question "little pig:" What is Jesus using to build your "mansion?"

Mansion means large room in a home. Remember - In my Fathers HOUSE are many mansions.

When He went to prepare a place for us, as in He prepared our position and place by His Atoning Sacrifice. But was not actually building us a literal mansion in what ever portion of heaven you desired to live (like the country, suburbs, City, rural, ext...) as you can hear many people erroniously state.

He is not building a mansion for the last 2000 years,...which is a view given to some Sunday School kids. Because He has not come back, does not mean He is still working on it. He is waiting till the last elect believes and then He will return.

The mansion is complete, and He used His voice to build my mansion.

There are no "mansions" in heaven. That is a poor translation of Greek into English. The word literally means "dwelling place".

"In My Father's House are many dwelling places" John 14:2

"My Father's House" was the Temple (John 2:14-16) The "dwelling places" at the Temple were small rooms the priests would use when they came to Jerusalem for about two weeks a year to do their priestly duties.

Jesus is using this as an anology to what His death on the cross would accomplish.

Jesus is saying that He is going (to the cross) to prepare a place for us in the presence of God (in Heaven).

If He goes (by His death on the cross) He will return again (by His own resurrection) and then on "the day of the LORD" when He will "receive you to Myself" (by our resurrection) to be where He is (in the presence of the Father). Which is what He is promising.

That is much, much better than a stupid old house.

This has to be the first time I ever saw anyone equate heaven with New Jersey. Oh, you mean New Jerusalem?


[Feetnote: I was born and raised in New Jersey, which gives me the right to make fun of it.]

I would paraphrase that to "....till the last name in His book of Life is called out...." and then He returns at our Father's say so.

The Church is Spiritual Israel. Are the saints in the city? If it is the Saints I find it hard to see why they are measured instead of numbered, verse 16.

I must admit I don't spend much time in Revelation Grasshopper.
