Brother, I pray that the exclamated question is truly rhetorical, for God both spoke and wrote by His own finger a transcript of His very Character, in His Law, the Ten Commandments:Will God rob a man?!
Yes, I do understand that you "can't see nothing nowhere", brother vooks, in all that was given, for blindness is rampant these days, and gross darkness covers the people, and many grope in the darkness of their hearts, having turned away from the light, but it is not for the lack of the love and grace of God in giving light, sight, and desiring to heal their blindness, but a lack of faith, trust and willingness in receiving it, for God having shed light upon them, they turn from it, not willing that they should see. It is written,
For this people's heart is waxed gross, and [their] ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with [their] eyes, and hear with [their] ears, and should understand with [their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. - Matthew 13:15
For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with [their] eyes, and hear with [their] ears, and understand with [their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. - Acts 28:27
But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great [is] that darkness! - Matthew 6:23
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. - John 3:19
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. - Hosea 4:6
The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart: - Deuteronomy 28:28
And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha. - 2 Kings 6:18
Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: - Ephesians 4:18
And [some] of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also? - John 9:40
Thank you for saying that I would "deal wisely in answering this question", for I having done so before the question was asked in the provided material already presented, as I have stated unto you brother vooks. Instead of repeating that material, I will refer you back to reading that which has been given. If you cannot find it brother vooks, please ask God, in humility, to give you a willing heart, sight and understanding, and you shall see it very clearly.
"... wisdom is justified of all her children." - Luke 7:35
Thank you for participating in this thread, and for keeping it current, for many need to see and hear the things which are written therein.
Brother, I tell you the Truth [and so all], if you do not Tithe after the manner of God's instruction, after knowing what is plainly given there in His word, you [nor any] cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. - 1 Corinthians 6:10
Brother, do not allow yourself to be a thief, robbing God, and unlawfully take that which rightly belongs unto God, in His service, and use it for your own pleasure and rioting, and do not be covetous with that which is God's, hoarding to thyself, for it will be a witness against thee, and cling to your garments, as murderous blood, and it will become a burning unto you, and a misery, and it will eat your flesh as fire, and do not extort from Him, who gave you [and us all] everything in the gift, who is, Christ Jesus. And so having been given all Heaven in Christ Jesus, what is it to return unto God that which He asks as our Father?
I have told you the Truth brother, as it is in Christ Jesus. If you do not return the Holy Tithe unto God, brother, please - repent. For if not, it shall not go well with you and your house, for I speak from the perspective of the examples given in Scripture, and so I say unto you in the charity/love born from God, repent, there is still time, but not much. Redeem the time brother, lest the light completely leave you in darkness and blindness,
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. - Ephesians 5:16
Those listening, and reading if they be of Christ Jesus, will know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself, for the Holy Spirit is not slack in reproving, in love, the whole world, of sin, righteousness and judgment.
Brother Alcott,I work to make a living. God didn't help me earn a nickel, nor does he need a nickel from me. Greedy ministers and churches can continue their cafeteria scriptures and brainwashing, but it will have no effect on me.
Hi brother Joseph, not desiring to repeat whole portions which have already been given, please allow me to shortly say in brief summary, that the Tithe is from the beginning [even before the Flood itself in the days of Noah], as seen here - http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=2221331&postcount=3 , even very long before there was an 'old covenant' [Exodus 19:3-9] to speak of. It was also shown, Scripturally, that the Tithe continues from that beginning all the way down through history, unto today, being for the Christian [a child/seed of Abraham, who would do the works of Abraham in faith], as seen, not only in the previous post, but also here, in these [especially see Malachi; Hebrews 7 and 1 Corinthians 9]:Brother One Baptism,
Did tithing become part of the new covenant?
Nothing was hidden brother, as Paul clearly spoke it on several occasions as noted above.... If so God decided to hide it from Paul and the other New Testament epsitle writer's. ...
No, brother, for I do not use the 'old covenant' [Exodus 19:3-9] in the least to explain anything. However, Paul, under guidance of the Holy Spirit, spake of its continuance, purpose and function on those several occasions already noted previously. Merely citing, a prophet, like Malachi, etc is not citing the 'old covenant' [Exodus 19:3-9], it is instead citing from the Law an the Prophets, as Isaiah 8:20 says.:... No matter how hard you try, you have to use Old Testament covenant to teach it. ...
The Holy Spirit through Paul so says, as cited, therefore, please consider most carefully that, for to turn from the instruction of the Holy Spirit therein, is not wise and it is unsafe, though God is patient, longsuffering, merciful and loving, He is also Just, Almighty Majesty, Judge of all and will not wait forever.... Some say tithing was before the law, part of the law and in force now also. ...
I do pray that you may read [again] through the posts given from the beginning and carefully examine that which is therein. Please, as your brother, I do ask in charity.... Where is the New Testament epistles of Paul, Peter, John, Jude, James are the Scripture for this? ...
Brother, the argument is non-sequitur. However, 'circumcision' may be seen, then and now:... Circumcision was before the law (Genesis 17:24), part of the law, but is it in effect now? ...
Please read those passages a little more closely, and notice the word "compelled" in Galatians 2:3, for there is a specific reason Paul said those things, and Paul in another and "constrain" Galatians 6:12 instance, to not bring offense, but to have free reign of the Gospel, had Timotheus circumcised, who freely agreed to do, not by compulsion, nor constraint of force; except it be the force of love to not hinder others:... Some of the New Testament apostles tried to maintain it (Acts 15:5-11; Galatians 2:11) but Paul would have none of it. ...
Brother One Baptism,...
Yes, as noted, in the previous posts, linked to above....Hebrews talks about Abraham giving a tithe to Melchizedek ...
Please notice what it specifically says brother, in its context:... but the same passage says there was a change in the law Hebrews 7:12. ...
While, definitely a singular try, but one must notice brother, that you had to add an apriori to the text itself, which does not say what you have desired it to say. It must be known brother, to merely say so, is not to prove so, from Scripture....Hebrews 8:13 and 9:1 talks about the "first covenant with regulations (tithing is a regulation of the law) made obsolete (tithing was made obsolete)." ...
Again, brother, the incorrect apriori, is seen here to be purposefully added to the text, which is an unwise thing to do. Hebrew 10:9 in context, reveals it says nothing about "tithe" being removed, for it clearly deals with the "offering" and "sacrifices" of the "bulls" and "goats", etc, and please also notice what "law" it is specifically addressing, the "law" of the shadow sacrifices:... Hebrews 10:9 "takes away first (tithing was part of the first) to establish second (tithing is not part of the second)" ...
Brother One Baptism,...
Brother, God writes the Law of Liberty [which is the law of the Spirit in freedom from sin. 1 John 3:4], known also as the Law of Love [Deuteronomy 6:5 [context]; and Leviticus 19:17-18], which encapsulates all of the Ten Commandments, and all that they themselves encapsulate [Psalms 119:96].... Hebrews 10:16 "writes law on heart and mind (God never wrote tithing on my heart or mind)" ...
As it had in the past, also, but please notice, that those texts deal with "offering", not "tithe", for there are two things, not merely the one. It is "tithe" and "offering", not one or the other, but both....The principle (law) of giving in the New Testament comes from the heart not from the dictates of the law, 2 Corinthians 8:10 "giving comes by desire", 2 Corinthians 9:7 "purposed in his heart"-"not grudgingly"-"not under compulsion" The church leaders must trust in the people hearing from God themselves 2 Corinthians 8:16 "God puts it in the heart ". ...
I, as Seventh-day Adventist, follow God's laws of love [indeed written upon the fleshy tables of the heart], not men's, as laid out in His [God's] word.... Man's way has always been not to trust the people but to lay down the Law. ...
That which is to be written upon the heart by the Holy Spirit, will never contradict the Law and the Prophets, Isaiah 8:20 [John 16:13], and what some people imagine, is that they think they are being led of the "spirit", but it is all a delusion, and a snare of satan, and only a cloak for sin, rebellion, and refusal to obey God. In actuality, it is not love, but a mere sick sentimentalism leading unto perdition, masquerading as love. Very dangerous....Some can't join a local church without promising to follow the external dictates of the Old Testament law instead of following after the law written in their hearts. ...
Context brother, context [and I like the KJB far better in its translation], for Paul was turning away from that which was his by rights, as a worker in God's field, so as not to cause offense or to be burdensome to the poorer churches:...This is very close to charging for the word, 2 Corinthians 11:7 "preach without charge". ...
You, presently, have a great misunderstanding brother. It is not your "10%", and more especially, nothing is yours, per se. It is the LORD's, and it is Holy, and belongs unto Him. Please do not "rob" God, brother, for in so doing, you do break all the commandments, even the ones you think you ought to be keeping....If I pay my 10 % ...
Please, always remember to quote vs 10 when quoting Ephesians 2:8-9, for those which stop there, are not quoting all that which is necessary:...I have something to boast about, yet in the body of Christ it is "by Grace and faith not by works of the law" "Not of works, lest any man should boast" Ephesians 2:8-9. ...
Q. Do any think that by returning Tithe to God that they offer their own righteousness?
God forbid, and be ever so far from the thought! If it is so, repent! If it does not come in the sweet smelling savour of Christ Jesus and His Righteousness, in what He the Saviour has done, it is a stink in nose of God, a burning in His eyes and a broken sound in His ears, an abomination, a turning away from what God Himself provided in His sacrifice, in His forgiveness and cleansing, in His Son and gift of the person of the Holy Spirit!
Those which knowingly refuse to return the Holy Tithe unto God from the Heart born of God, and place anything else there in its stead, even if they seem to offer all they had, are verily removing Christ Jesus and His righteousness in offering to God, and substituting something else, an 'anti-Christ', an 'in the place of Christ', which is opposed to Christ Jesus! Can God accept it? He cannot.
The Tithe is to be returned unto God, because it is already His, and we cannot pay out of something which is not our own, but only return that which is given, but if we continue to keep that which is not our own, it is more than theft, for we do it in the very presence of God, it is then Robbery.
....
When we return the Holy Tithe, the Firstfruits of all the Increase, we must do so from the Heart born of God, in full recognition of that which we are actually returning to God, in that it is nothing of ourselves, nothing of which we have earned, nothing of which we can claim as our righteousness, but must understand whose Righteousness it is, and whom the Tithe represents – Christ Jesus, the Gift of God's Love freely given unto us, and shall we not return that love freely unto Him, who first loved us?
He indeed has brother, as it is written:...God bless,
Brother Joe
