The Apochrypha is not inspired, therefore there is no reason to believe in it.

Jesus defined what books are inspired in the Old Testament.

Luke 24:44 - And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

That would be like saying from Genesis to Malachi.

There were books written between the 400 year gap between Malachi and Matthew. However the apocryphal book of Judith, for example, contains a historical error.

Judith 1:1 - While King Nebuchadnezzar was ruling over the Assyrians from his capital city of Nineveh, King Arphaxad ruled over the Medes from his capital city of Ecbatana.

2 Kings 25:8 - And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem:

Nebuchadnezzar was the king of Babylon, not Assyria!!!

The book of Judith is NOT from the Holy Spirit because God does not tell lies or make mistakes.
