05/29/2019 Mueller's statement fuels impeachment push on Capitol Hill

Rep. David Cicilline, chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, said the House Judiciary Committee must formally open an “impeachment inquiry” into the president.

Rep. Jerrold Nadler, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, didn’t go that far, but said he saw in Mr. Mueller’s statement an invitation to Congress to act.

...

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said on Twitter that Mr. Mueller’s statement could be boiled down to one word: “impeach.”

Ms. Ocasio-Cortez had already been one of the louder voices agitating for a start to impeachment proceedings.

“He did not exonerate the president of the United States of obstruction of justice, obstruction of justice is a serious crime that strikes at the core of our justice system, and the Constitution points to Congress to take action to hold the president accountable,” said Mr. Nadler, New York Democrat.

Mr. Nadler would be the person leading any impeachment, and he said what Mr. Mueller laid out confirms the president did commit “crimes,” which Congress has a duty to punish.

For them to impeach, there has to be a criminal referral. He has to have committed a crime that is a impeachable offense. When Independent Counsel Ken Starr delivered his report, he noted that actual crimes had been committed by Bill Clinton. So they had crimes to warrant impeachment. That is not the case here. The Special Counsel could find no evidence that any crimes had been committed. If he had evidence for crimes, he would have said so. No criminal referral has been made. An impeachment process will be DOA in the Senate.

The "crimes" are all made up in the Democrats heads. The only thing we have here is that they are mad that Hillary lost the election. They had it in the bag they thought, right up until the election results came in declaring Mr. Trump the winner.

Agreed. That is pretty much of the size of it.

The Marxist left will make a phony crime out of President Trump's refusal to submit his tax return(s).

They don't care about the senate. They believe that the outhouse smell of "impeached" (which they will scream during the campaign) will be enough to trash the election even until and after the weeping wailing and gnashing of their teeth post election.

I am confident that Trump will win the election after all of the smoke has cleared. Their insistence on this will be their undoing come election time.

Agreed. The left handed progressives are powerless against their own "impeach" desire.

Nancy will cave to the radicals, allow the hangmen their victim thereby handing a bigtime reelection OVER to the POTUS postponing a "blue" white house until 2024 (or even later).

I believe Trump wants to be impeached for the following reasons:

1. It will go nowhere. The Senate will overwhelmingly reject it quickly.

2. There is no real ground for impeachment. It is nothing more than TDS.

3. Trump will hang impeachment around the Democrats neck like an albatross.

4. Impeachment will whip Trump's 2016 base into a frenzy and galvanize them for 2020.

5. Independents will see through the charade and take it out on Democrat candidates at the polls.

6. Trump will wear impeachment like a badge of honor and bludgeon the Democrats with it for the next 18 months.

I'm beginning to believe that the "impeachment" shriek is a chest pounding attention getting device that will go nowhere.
