He helped bring the gospel to the lost of Ireland. While his doctrines might not match my own, he was instrumental in bringing many of the lost to Christ, by tilling, planting and watering.

My views do not match those found in Pilgrims Progress or Mere Christianity, but that does not mean those views were wrong either.

It’s been a while since I looked, but the Annals of Ulster describe independent churches in the region that had not been Catholicized before even Patrick’s predecessor. In other words, the gospel was already being presented and when “missionaries” showed up, they found people who they could join themselves to.
I personally think that the Catholic Church of Patrick’s day was a great deal closer to the truth than they are presently. I don’t think it is worth the fuss that both sides make of it.
