I figured this would end up here eventually. I also know exactly how it is going to play out.
The cop got a little rough, but the girl had been told to leave the classroom by the teacher. She refused. That is criminal trespass. The school administrator than told her to leave school property. She refused. That is a second count of criminal trespass.
Her refusal to follow the lawful instruction of the school police officer resulted in an altercation that not only removed her from the classroom but also disrupted the education of every other student in the class room. Third charge: disruption of a school.
The cop was just a little heavy handed but she got just what she asked for.
Because the owner of the property, or the legal representative of the legal owner of the property asked her to leave. She didn't. That is the very definition of trespass. How is it criminal trespass if she is an enrolled student at the school? It's plain and simple insubordination. Why is it a crime?
I agree. That is why I said he got a little heavy handed. There were better ways to handle it. But she was still in the wrong. Had she done as she was told by the teacher, the administration, and the cop, all who issued lawful orders, none of this would have happened. She has nobody to blame but herself.Go and get a dolly or a hand cart. Have the cop and the asst. principal pick up the kid and the desk and set the desk with her in it onto the cart. Wheel the cart out of the classroom. If the kid exits the desk, grab her and drag her out of the school. Is that so difficult?

Read the article. She was told to leave the classroom. She refused. She was told to leave the school. She refused. They didn't accuse her of trespassing, they accused her of "disturbing school."
He was too heavy handed and she got what she deserved. So, the cop's treatment of her was wrong, but still, she got what she deserved. Is that your stance?
Whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?
The cop has been sued three times previously. Once for battery (lawsuit dismissed), once for excessive use of force and battery (he won the lawsuit) and once for racial bias (trial pending in January.)
What you do is comply with the officer. He did what was necessary. If anyone thinks that situation was not a set up to gain a video then then I have some magic beans to sell you as well.

Yep, there will be the "she deserved it" camp and "nice takedown, beautiful style points", or "they're just doing what they're trained to do" and then there will be the "Why does a grown man have to beat up a teenaged girl?"
The sad thing is that someone can post one of these incidents almost every day. I've already reached my tipping point. The cops are just too darn quick to use force when other methods would work.
New video, from a different angle, changes the whole story. The girl kicked and hit the officer prior to being removed from her desk.
