Au contraire. The AG serves at the pleasure of the President and the President has the authority to order the AG to appoint a Special Prosecutor. The AG can either do so or resign.

To be pedantic (hello!) the President can also fire the AG. It's not EITHER appoint a special prosecutor OR resign.

Were you under the impression the President could order congress to appoint a Special Prosecutor? If not, why even bring Congress into the discussion?

Please show me where I said the President could order Congress to appoint a special prosecutor?

Your statement,

A Special Prosecutor is appointed by the Attorney General,

is poorly worded. It gives the impression that the ONLY way for a special prosecutor to exist is if the Attorney General appoints one. You should have written, "A special prosecutor may be appointed" or "one way a special prosecutor is appointed is by the AG" if you wanted to write with clarity.

A Special Prosecutor is appointed by the Attorney General, who is part of the Executive Branch of government, and serves at the pleasure of the President.
The fact that an Attorney General can appoint a prosecutor and serves at the pleasure of the President is not the same thing as a President appointing a special prosecutor. It is the Attorney General's decision whether or not to do it.

If a sitting president instructed his Attorney General to appoint a Special Prosecutor, the AG would do so if he wanted to keep his job.
If the Attorney General was a coward, yes.

So your expectation is that a Trump administration would be full of cowards who would not have the courage to decide whether or not a request/command from Trump was a lawful order or not?

There's the best reason not to vote for Trump. He would only attract sniveling "yes" men for positions that require character and occasional push-back.

Context is your friend. Congress was not threatening to appoint a Special Prosecutor. Trump was.

Focus. Focus.

All politicians are self-serving cowards.

Just like every other administration.

And there is no question as to the legality of the order. It would be legal. Period.

Sure.

You said, regarding appointing a special prosecutor:

The AG can EITHER do so OR resign.

There are two and only two options allowed in your statement. Logically, either/or is inclusive of only what follows. There is no "and" in an either/or statement.

I would hope we would do better than that.

And there is no question as to the legality of the order. It would be legal. Period.
Legal, but probably not moral.

That's a huge reason why we need to avoid electing an extremely thin-skinned person as President who will use the office to go after people. That's what tyrants do.

Trump is a tyrant in the making. I will not elect a tyrant, will you?

^ This is the issue right here. ^

This is the sort of thing that Putin does, and a reason that Trump admires him.

I agree. I have been hoping for an improvement since the Eisenhower administration.

That could be true, but so far I think there is insufficient evidence to come to that conclusion.

I will not elect a tyrant, will you?
The jury is still out as to whether or not he will be a tyrant (all men have the seeds of tyranny in their souls). And the jury is still out whether or not I will vote for him.

But it has already been decided that I cannot, in good conscience, vote for Hillary Clinton. Her past is way too dark. Her racism and sexism nauseates me. And her support of the violent murder of 700,000 babies in this country every year is an insurmountable obstacle for my ever supporting her in any way.

It was a mudslinger. Hillary was admittedly ladylike when she slung her mud at Donald.
Donald was like a gorilla dumping his mud on Hillary's head - and it stuck.

I was taken back by the fact that the Donald "locker room" mud slid off him so quickly.

He is some kind of a phenomena in his persona.
Nothing seems to hurt him in spite of the naysayers, doomsdayers, nevertrumpers,
he somehow survives and even becomes stronger.

Incredible.

Again - on every TV news and Cable News show all that could be heard was "Trump, Trump, Trump" both good and bad, attacking him and/or defending him over the potty mouth tape.

Its as if he gains strength solely because his name is on everyone's lips.
