But yes, squashing is quick & relatively painless unlike pulling the legs & wings off of something. I read somewhere that roaches live a while headless and even perform better in the mazes - who thought up that experiment and if its headless, does it feel pain? Ugh.

By the way, Ladyeagle, you never did answer whether or not you would test a very risky drug on a rat vs a human if there was even the slightest chance of coming up with a cancer preventing drug? Just curious.

 

Amen. Some are just "done". It's so inhumane. If there is a justifiable reason, tr uly justifiable, then so be it. But, be humane about it. After all....these are God's creatures.

He's the one who ordained how it should be done. I imagine He knows a thing or two about whether something is torture or not since He is the creator.

Believe it or not I am not condoning the needless torture of animals, but even though this article points to alternatives, there are sometimes NO alternatives and animal testing is the only true way to protect human life. When it comes to an animal or my grandson, the animal is going to win each time. My guess is that you and I are on the same track here. Needless torture is wrong.

I saved a kitten that our neighbors left in a stack of tires. I kept hearing him crying and finally found him three days later, starved with his eyes closed. I helped the pound find the culprit and charge him with cruelty to animals and I also found a home for the kitten and now he is the best friend of a handicapped lady who is wheel-chair bound. Both the cat and the lady care for each other very much. It hurt me a lot to see the kitten starving and thinking that it might not live, but I knew we were okay when I started giving it formulae with a syringe and it gulped it down. Three days, ripped away from its mother and brothers/sisters left in a stack of tires to die. Now, that is just plain wrong.
