Its simple, give your top three reasons for the KJVO view, or your top three reasons for using a MV bible. Please only reply to one side or the other and please no soapboxing, I want only clear reasons for your view and nothing more.

Boy, you don't waste any time! Post # 1 and you're jumping right into a war zone. Are you sure you're ready for that?

:) And welcome to the Baptist Board.

You didn't just dive in. You are shaking a hornet's nest.

When I use the KJV I use it because:
#1: It is the Word of God
#2: Most scripture that I have memorized is in KJV
#3: The language used in the Psalms and other poetry used in the KJV is great for weddings, funerals, etc.

When I use a MV I use it because:
#1: It is the Word of God
#2: I find it easier to understand
#3: The people I preach to find it easier to understand

You are not what I would define as KJVO since you use both the KJ and MV. I am looking for died in the wool KJVO to defend the KJVO view. Maybe I need to add this to the OP.

Top 3 Reasons against KJVO/pro MV:

1) The KJV's language is archaic.

2) The KJV does not reflect the results of scholarship over the past 400 years.

3) MVs use contemporary language and reflect the centuries of scholarship.

Top three reasons for using the TNIV:

1. It's more accurate.

2. It's more readable and consistent.

3. It uses contemporary language.

Therefore I'm not for the KJV.

Are you also calling the majority of black people in the USA "archaic" due to their ebonic dialect as being rooted in the same vernacular as found in the KJB?

2) The KJV does not reflect the results of scholarship over the past 400 years.
Thank the Good LORD!

3) MVs use contemporary language and reflect the centuries of scholarship.
And as the world turns so does scholarship in the very same anit-God circles. Just ask nearly any modern scholar.

The word of God does that already for us, so we need not answer the folly of men.:godisgood:

Having roots is not the same thing as equivalent. I think that the ebonic dialect is improper and should be replaced by standard English (the same goes for all grammatically incorrect dialects). I think that the KJV language is archaic. If all you can do is race-bait, then you're wasting your time.

I live in a majority African-American city, and I went to high school in a majority African-American high school. To this day I have never heard anyone speak like the KJV reads outside of formal prayers and Shakespeare.
