I think the difference would be that most Arkansas fans I know expected to lose to SC. I don't think the same could be said about most Tennessee fans, especially you.

The Knoxville News-Sentinel published a survey that showed a majority expected to lose to ARK. Can't link to it because you have to be a KNS subscriber. The UT vs Ark rhetoric toned down quite a bit in the run-up to the game. Cool heads finally prevailed, til after the game. :)

As I mentioned, when the injuries started piling up I stopped posting. I hoped for better but it would have taken an incredible effort from UT's RS Fr QB in his first start and only 2nd significant playing time to get the job done. Their defense had several players playing hurt.

Short answer: By game time, I was realistic enough to know UT's "A" game probably wasn't available to them. Arkansas' definitely was.

Nonetheless, that is the team UT had available. Arkansas won and that's history. There is no guarantee they wouldn't have won otherwise... and discussing what if's is a fruitless venture.

As I said, I was more disappointed that neither my 12 and 13 year old sons nor I tagged a deer that day. It was opening day in MO. Just next to my son's stand some friends killed a nice 8 point and a 10 point.

That was frankly far more disappointing than the game.

Update. I got a very decent 9 point buck and a big doe yesterday... decidedly more pleasing than a UT win over Vandy.

I live in metro Knoxville and had to watch Vandy win in our house on the 20th anniversary of the Sugar Vols. I care not for your 9 pointer :)

That was not said to suggest the win over Vandy wasn't pleasing especially since they've been competitive with alot of good teams this year.

BTW, besides being sport, those deer help the budget with very lean meat that is difficult to distinguish from beef unless you are told before hand. The deer here eat the same grass, sowbeans, and corn as the beef... they just aren't nearly as fatty.

The neighboring row crop farmers want people to kill as many as possible even if they are left laying. They can do tremendous crop damage.

I'm not anti-hunter, Scott :) I was just saying I'm glad Vandy didn't get to release a sequel to their DVD
