The best definition of socialism and communism is a political system that has proven to fail in all its stated goals and results in less individual freedom, more oppression, and greater poverty for its citizens. With all the examples in recent history that should be clear to us. We should never even have the faintest desire to incorporate any of it's ideals.

To say that all communism is socialism, therefore all socialism is communism is a logical fallacy. It is like saying all dogs are animals, therefore all animals are dogs.

There are also varying degrees of socialized services. For example, I would not equate Swedish socialism, or say the Canadian healthcare system with the communism of the old U.S.S.R.

No it's like saying both communism and socialism are bad dogs that bite really hard.

Using the old USSR as a model for what communism is is to fail to see that communism is expressed in very different ways from that time period.

Isn't the so-called "biblical" family structure fascist/communist/socialist? The oldest male is the dictator and has life and death power over the Children? What sort of family/tribal government did Abraham's family have?

No, the Biblical family structure is not fascist, communist, or socialist - it is Christian - and, no, the father or husband is not to be a "dictator" - he is to be a leader with both authority and responsibility and he is accountable to God for what he does and does not do.

No, civil government is entirely different than the family. Civil government is ordained by God - as are all things - but, for God's people, it didn't really come into play until the people asked Him for a King and he reluctantly gave them Saul. That happened long after Abraham's time. Moses told the people of Israel that they would do this when they settled in the promise land and, sure enough, that's what they did.
