One of the Hermenetic Rules, that I do not agree: Intepreting in Literally.
Many dispensationalists/Pretribs emphasis or press that we should always to intepreting verses into literally all the time.
Let you know, I do NOT deny literal things in many areas in the Bible. Depend on what the grammar or sentence is talking about. Not every verses are always literal. There are many spiritual meanings use for illustrations, characters, purposes, applies, etc.
When we intepreting the scriptures, we have to be balance with spiritual and literal depend on what the grammar or sentance talking about.
Some Christians intepreting verses apply to today's technology things. Maybe they are right.
Bible prophecies not able to indentify today's technology stuffs like airplane, computer, missile, gun, etc. So, prophets use symbols and figures of the things what these are looking like in the last days.
For example - Rev. 13:10 - 'sword', John, the Beloved saw the vision of verse 10, but he was not able to describe today's technology weapon, so, he used word, 'sword' for the weapon purpose. I am sure, no doubt, John saw gun in the vision.
We are not alone, throughout many Centuries ago, many Christians do not understand everything in the Bible on the spiritual things or symbolic things. Also, their intepreting of scriptures are much different than our present interpreting. Why? Because of the technology have been changing so lot. That why, the prophets seem have difficult to explaining future technology stuffs. Dan. 12:4 is a perfect example of today's technology have been changing lot.
Of course, we have to be careful what we reading and interpreting scriptures, because we are all humans, our understanding are limited, God's knowledge is more beyond ahead us. But, when we get into heaven, then we shall understand everything.
But, 2 Tim. 2:15 commands us, that we must study the Bible serious like as workman. Being study the Bible is not easy. We never be satisfy with study the Bible till we died or Christ comes.
We are aware that many Christians have different views on their own interpretings. But, the most important basic of fundamental Bible doctrines what we believe: Christ is the deity of God; Three persons in one God(trinity); Fall of men; real places - heaven & hell; Christ died on the cross for our sins; the resurrection of Christ -literal; Christ shall come again; We all shall face the judgement day; Looking forward for new heavens and the new earth.
I believe there is common belief among all Christians(baptists) agree upon the basic fundamental of Bible doctrine.
Earlier, I agree with Ed Edwards told us the basic fundamental doctrines that we believe.
Later this week, I will discuss more about Eschatology doctrine when I am off from work.
In Christ
Rev. 22:20 -Amen!
