I don't have any problem, and I have no ax to grind and no dog in the fight. I just feel called to relate the good news of the gospel, which is Christ died on the Cross, he is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Those that receive what has been done for them have forgiveness of sins, and where there is forgiveness there is justification and where there is justification there is life. Amen, and praise the Lord.

Oh your welcome. If you know that & have assurance, are you joyful?
Only God can look into the heart. You can't, thank you very much.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Yes, but not every individual without exception, the world here has no sin to be punished for, Christ took away the punishment this particular world deserved, now can we say that about this world here 1 Cor 11:

32But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

Now this cannot be the very same world in Jn 1:29

Practically all commentators agree in understanding v. 30 of physical inflictions and infirmities, of debility and ill health, many of them adding that these conditions were the result of the intemperance alluded to in v. 21.

That passage is discussing the temporal sufferings and the reasons why. The Corinthians were being disrespectful of the Lord's Supper etc.

The way these people were acting, do you really think that they received what had been already done for them, that they were believers trusting in Christ? Or they like many modern day "professors" of Christianity?

They would only be condemned if they rejected the finished work of the Cross and denied Christ, which looks like they were really doing. Do you suppose getting drunk at home before coming to church and partaking of the Lord's Supper is something a believer in Christ would do.

And by the way, because "world" or "all" is used in on sense in a passage doesn't mean it has the exact same meaning in all passages, as you well know. It's context, context, context. So, do not accept what has been done for you, and you will be condemned with the world of Christ-deniers, unbelievers. No one has ever said any differently. You are getting closer to what John 1:29 means. Because Christ died for all, does not mean universalism, which I have repeatedly stated.

Remember what was required in the pass over; the applying of the blood.

I believe the original OP was supposed to be "True Calvinism" & so I would prefer to discuss what a TRUE CALVINIST (and / or) a TRUE Believer in the Doctrines of Grace hold to.

Election....bottom line Ive been told that Election is not supported in scripture....I beg to differ.

Matthew 24:31 “And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

Ephesians 1:3-4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.”

Romans 8:33 “Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.”

Romans 9:11 “(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)

Titus 1:1-2 “Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; in hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.”

1Peter 1:2 “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.”

OK, so it's taught in the Scriptures & the "True Calvinist" would attest to it.

Amen to that! I love my kinder, gentler church, much more than the one I just came from.

I went into a Lutheran church once....thought I was in a pre-Roman Catholic (before Vatican 2) assembly. They handed me Luther's caticisims & told me to study them while they genuflected at the alter. No thanks.

There are Lutheran churches and then there are Lutheran churches, just like Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian etc.

Martin Luther, if here were to come back today, would be nailing another 95 thesis's on the door. He wouldn't recognize what most Lutheran churches are teaching these days. But, like mine, there are some. My church has about 10 people including the Pastor and his wife. Love it. The smaller the number, the higher the quality.

Of course election, foreknowledge, predestination, eternal decrees are taught in the bible. Who denies that?

When you speak of a "true" Calvinist do you mean the 5-Pointer, the 4-Pointer, the moderate, the hyper-Calvinist, Infralapsarianism or Supralapsarianism, etc.?

Colorado Rockies for me. Actually I agree that if one were to be a baptist, the Primitive Baptists are a great group.

Thanks ....I will bookmark that1 BTW, I was in Bolder a few weeks ago while they were still having the fires. Cool if you ski (I dont) Prefer the ocean cause I likes ta fish.

Have a good w/e:thumbs:

I don't ski. I never could see the idea of battling a snow storm, fight a huge crowd, pay 100 dollars to slide down a hill and a couple of sticks. I much prefer to hike in the mountains on a nice October day.

The ocean has scary, spooky things in it. And when the ocean comes inland 10 miles and grabs people and drags them out to sea, well....I prefer the nice stable mountain. That's why you live where you do and I live where I do.

Besides, where I am, the bugs need oxygen masks to fly at this altitude, so very few bugs.

All that does not matter, You need to explain how the world of Jn 1:29 which has had all its sins taken away by the blood of the Lamb, how that world is the same world as that one paul says is going to be condemned for its sins. 1 Cor 11:

32But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

Yes, its part of the Gospel of God's Grace. How can one possibly Preach Salvation by Grace through Faith , not of works Eph 2:8 and divorce it From the Election of Grace Rom 11:

5Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

6And if by grace [election of grace vs 5], then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

If we are to rightly defend the Salvation by Grace Truth, then we must preach salvation due to election of grace..

Oh please!! Would you pay attention to what is being said? John 1:29 is self-explanatory, unless you have an agenda to stick to. The SIN (singular) was the SIN of Adam, that we all inherited because we are descendants of Adam.

The "world" 1 cor 11:32 is the world of unbelievers, as plainly implied. I already explained the difference. Look up the different meanings of the word world. Never mind, I'll do it for you:

kosmos:

1) an apt and harmonious arrangement or constitution, order, government

2) ornament, decoration, adornment, i.e. the arrangement of the stars, 'the heavenly hosts', as the ornament of the heavens. 1 Pet. 3:3

3) the world, the universe

4) the circle of the earth, the earth

5) the inhabitants of the earth, men, the human family

6) the ungodly multitude; the whole mass of men alienated from God, and therefore hostile to the cause of Christ

7) world affairs, the aggregate of things earthly

a) the whole circle of earthly goods, endowments riches, advantages, pleasures, etc, which although hollow and frail and fleeting, stir desire, seduce from God and are obstacles to the cause of Christ

8) any aggregate or general collection of particulars of any sort

a) the Gentiles as contrasted to the Jews (Rom. 11:12 etc)

John 1:29--definition No. 5
1 Cor 11:32--definition No. 6.

John 3:16--God so loved the world--definition 5

James 4:4 A friend of the world is an enemy of God--definition 6.

Then quit avoiding the issue. How can a world that has no sin charged against it as per Jn 1:29 be the same world as one which shall be Judged for its sins ?

1 Cor 11:

32But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

The SIN (singular) was the SIN of Adam

So thats the only sin Christ died for was the one sin of adam ?

Avoiding the issue? I'm specifically addressing the issue. What's with you?

That "one" sin of Adam is what condemned the whole human race, don't you understand that? (Romans 5:12).

Follow the reasoning in Romans 5, then come back and ask such a foolish question.

After reading that last sentence, I've deemed it too harsh. Forgive me.
