Iran's nuclear program started in 1957. In 1974, the shah announced the country would build 20 nuclear power plants with the aid of western countries. The revolution occurred in 1979, replacing the shah with the ayatollah and the program came to a halt. Saddam Hussein started a war with Iran in 1980 and used chemical weapons on Iranian troops and civilians. Saddam was also pursuing his own nuclear weapons. Iran felt that if Saddam would use nukes on them once he had them, so they began their pursuit. So, from 1980 to June of 2025, Iran was capable of only enriching uranium to 60%. It was June 2025, that the US along with Israel bombed the three nuclear enrichment sites. If you recall, Trump claimed the sites were obliterated and Iran's enrichment capabilities were set back "years and years." Then whoa and behold eight months later, Trump announces Iran is just two weeks away from having a nuclear weapon, and a month away from using to destroy Israel and the Middle-East. His words.
If their enrichment capability was only 60% and then set back years and years, how could it possibly go from 0-90% in that short of a period of time when it took them 45 years to get to 60%. Did Trump lie to us in June of last year when he said the sites were obliterated or was what Trump said in February the lie? At least one of those statements if not both were a lie.
