I would've expected more people to be Obama's inauguration being more of Trump's supporters have job responsibilities.

Time lapse photography. Shows the whole thing, from people arriving to when they left.

You can clearly see that the area in front of the Washington Monument was empty of people, which refutes that photo from Facebook.

Sent from my Moto Droid Turbo.

Photos from the balcony toward the Mall and Washington Monument are deceptive. There is, what shall I call it, a structure across the Mall about where the National Gallery of Art ends ... probably between the NGA the the Natural History Building. This was used as the speakers platform during the Women's March. I expect it was used during the inuguration also in some manner. From the capitol you cannot see beyond that point and it is a long way from there to the Washington Momument, close to a mile I would say. Trump's crowd did not go past that structure. The crowd at the Women's March filled the same area as Trump and extended on pass all the way to the end of the mall and filled both Independence Avenue and Constitution Avenue. To go from the area across the street from the Hirshhorn to the Ellipse I walked away from the Mall about four blocks and then turned toward the Washington Momument. That street did have people walking on it also, but not nearly as crowded as the first three blocks. If you are familiar with the part of DC the streets to the railroad tressel were filled, wall to wall, shoulder to shouldes.

A special thanks to the St. Dominic's Catholic Church for keeping their doors open and lettering peole use their restrooms. There were almost no portable toilets on that side of the Mall. This was the side away from the inaugural parade.

I talked with an elderly priest and thanked him for keeping the church open. He said, "Of course we would keep it open."

Then he showed his sense of humor. "The reason there are so few portable toilets is the GOP came and took all the Republican toilets away leaving only a few Democratic toilets."

I said, "You would like this many people here on Sunday."

"Yes," he said, "I would like that."

The National Capital Region has the day off. Not that I would expect waves of unionized, federal employees from NOVA and MD to be interested in Trump's inauguration.

I get the impression that Trump could drown kittens on live TV and it wouldn't bother you, so long as he made an acceptable SCOTUS nomination.
Better to drown kittens than grind up human beings like hamburger while still in their mothers womb.

He's dragging his feet on an executive order to defund Planned Parenthood International. George W. Bush and Reagan had both accomplished cutting off this money by their 2nd day in office. Trump will do it "if he feels like it"
Ridiculous, Friday was the inauguration, Monday is his first work day. Who knows where ALL the senators and congressmen are.

Do you forget I am neither a Republican or Democrat.? IMO BOTH parties have failed miserably to make any REAL headway in stopping the carnage of little helpless innocent ones. The murder of abortion began under the watch of a Republican. Obama had a phone and a pen but didn't make a call or write a memo to save one innocent life but allowed murderers to do their evil deeds unimpeded.

Personally I put no time constraints on Trumps anti pro-murder agenda, but the quicker the better of course.

I would like to see definite progress within the first 100 days, otherwise I will be very unhappy.

Abortion has been legal for 44 years but now but Trump haters are suddenly hand-wringing because he's "dragging his feet". Where were they until January 20, 2017?

I thought I would never agree with the Pope until I read this.
Pope says "we'll wait and see to judge Trump".

VATICAN CITY -- Pope Francis has told an interviewer that he’ll wait to see what U.S. President Donald Trump does before forming his opinion.

In an interview published Saturday evening by Spanish newspaper El Pais, Francis says he doesn’t like 'judging people early. We’ll see what Trump does.'

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/pope-francis-donald-trump-judgment-populism/

IMO, We should all be doing something to stop abortion, supporting organizations that intercept the mothers on their journey to the abortuary, or at least praying for the carnage to stop... Ultimately the Day of judgement is coming and ultimately Jesus is the judge of all the earth.

I would like to pray for mercy for this world but the mercy has already been accomplished and offered.

Matthew 11
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

He doesn't need Congress. It's an executive order, stroke of the pen declaration. He's already signed several other EO's. What's he waiting for?

This morning our pastor talked about having discussions which we know will go nowhere and what a waste of time it is. Indeed.

However in this venue we can see the number of people who have entered any given thread in a read-only mode so for the benefit of others I continue on.

Not only that but I enjoy a good healthy debate! :Biggrin Always have. :)

ITL is stimulating and humorous as well.
BB is courteous (well usually :Tongue)

I know, I can be and have been un-nice at times.

Sorry, I'll work up some ALLIGATOR TEARS.:Cool

What time of day the two pics were taken might be of interest.
From what I could find the Trump picture was taken about 11 am - almost a full hour before the inauguration started. People would have still been filing in. Not sure what time the Obama picture was taken.

According to CNN:
The photo of Trump's inauguration was taken from television during his speech — peak time for the crowd.

The photo of Obama's inauguration was taken by Getty and doesn't indicate the time, but Trump's should represent his largest audience.

Ah, the bastion of liberal propangana, CNN!

How many other sources would you like?

Is Fox News acceptable to you?

From Fox News: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/01/21/fact-check-trump-overstates-crowd-size-at-inaugural.html

TRUMP: "I made a speech. I looked out. The field was — it looked like a million, a million and a half people."

The president went on to say that one network "said we drew 250,000 people. Now that's not bad. But it's a lie." He then claimed that were 250,000 right by the stage and the "rest of the, you know, 20-block area, all the way back to the Washington Monument was packed."

"So we caught them," said Trump. "And we caught them in a beauty. And I think they're going to pay a big price."

THE FACTS: Trump is wrong. Photos of the National Mall from his inauguration make clear that the crowd did not extend to the Washington Monument. Large swaths of empty space are visible on the Mall.

Thin crowds and partially empty bleachers also dotted the inaugural parade route. Hotels across the District of Columbia reported vacancies, a rarity for an event as large as a presidential inauguration.

And ridership on the Washington's Metro system didn't match that of recent inaugurations. As of 11 a.m. that day, there were 193,000 trips taken, according to the transit service's Twitter account. At the same hour eight years ago, there had been 513,000 trips. Four years later, there were 317,000 for Obama's second inauguration.

I have made these remark in the past about folks calling others liar including calling Obama a liar or saying that something he said was "a lie" , or making a claim upon hearing a remark "it/that was a lie".

It grates against a mental nerve when I hear it. And yes even when done against Obama or Hillary.

First of all a wrong perception is NOT a lie no matter who makes it Trump, Obama, Hillary...

Second: There must be motivation, to know a fact and willfully deceive others nonetheless by distorting that fact.

Third : We cannot see into an individuals heart and mind to determine faulty perception or one's true motivation.

The essence of the lie of the father of lies was to do as much harm as possible to Adam and Eve and the Creator (as if that were possible) motivated by the desire to harm others.

Personally I didn't even call Hillary a liar (as far as I know) when she made statements proven later to be false.

OK so we know Trump has a colossal ego (which seems necessary to become a politician).
He looks at a crowd and gives a wrong estimate of its size to me its an error or a mistake of perception and not a lie.

He is not talented, smooth and suave when it come to schmooze.

And yes I gave Others (Bernie, Hillary, Romney, Cruz, Rubio, etc, etc, etc, etc...) that allowance in my thinking.

Or you can look at the time lapse video I posted of the whole thing and see that there was nowhere near the same amount of people at Trump's vs. Obama's inauguration.
