Trump associate Roger Stone arrested, faces obstruction charge

WASHINGTON — Roger Stone, a confidant of President Donald Trump, was arrested Friday morning in the special counsel's Russia investigation and was charged with lying to Congress and obstructing the probe.

The seven-count indictment against Stone, a self-proclaimed "dirty trickster," is the first criminal case in months from special counsel Robert Mueller and provides the most detail to date about how Trump campaign associates were aware in the summer of 2016 that emails had been stolen from the Hillary Clinton campaign and wanted them released. It alleges that unnamed senior Trump campaign officials contacted Stone to ask when the stolen emails might be disclosed.

Why are political machinations being turned into criminal ones? The heavy handed arrest in the early morning hours is troubling also. The Special Counsel could have contacted Mr. Stones lawyer and the man would have voluntarily turned himself in.

That's Andrew Weissman's m.o. and he's every bit as bad as you described. Pretty sure he's the one that tipped off CNN (but not Roger Stone's lawyer) about this raid, which was simply ridiculous - they sent more people after him than they did OBL.

Weissman really shouldn't be practicing law any more after some of the things that he did, but he's Mueller's lead attorney here, which means he's the one that will end up writing the final report if that ever happens. He donated to Obama and attended a Hillary victory party the night she lost the election, expect the worst from this partisan hack.
