President Donald Trump announced late on Friday that the United States has reached a new agreement with Mexico in which Mexico is going to take "strong measures" to end the flow of illegal immigration into the United States and will thus avoid being hit with massive tariffs by the Trump administration.

"I am pleased to inform you that The United States of America has reached a signed agreement with Mexico. The Tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the U.S. on Monday, against Mexico, are hereby indefinitely suspended," Trump tweeted. "Mexico, in turn, has agreed to take strong measures to stem the tide of Migration through Mexico, and to our Southern Border. This is being done to greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States. Details of the agreement will be released shortly by the State Department. Thank you!"

Oh how the politicians and liberal media whined and blubbered and were a bunch of spineless cowards who don't know how to stand up to anyone.

Americans and our political establishment are not used to a president who not only has a backbone, but also is willing to take risks and even stand up to countries who are #1 priority is re-election. When all you care about is re-election, you spend most of the time adjusting your positions based on which direction the wind is blowing.

Trump operates from a different and more effective metric and he gets things done. He expects progress. He demands results and he gets results.

People complain that our allies don't like us. They whine about how countries that loved us are now hating us. Well, in truth, that's not a bad thing.

For years, America was like the girl at the party that all the guys liked because she never said, "No." But suddenly, when she finds her dignity or finds Jesus, and says, "I am not going to be taken advantage of anymore," suddenly she is not the life of the party and the guys stop coming around and they find someone else, they stop inviting her to the party. They have to respect her decision, but they don't like her anymore.

The US is the same way. Trump isn't letting our allies milk us for $$ and he demands that they pay their fair share as part of NATO. We are not going to send money overseas to pay for other countries. He pulled us out of a deal that would have us sending tens of billions of $$ to India for their pollution clean up. Trump put a stop to that. We are not going to pay for their domestic projects. We are not going to pay other countries' bills any longer.

They don't like us, but then they never really did like us; they used us. And Trump isn't letting them get away with it any longer. We are not going to keep paying huge tariffs to China while they pay us nothing. We are not going to let Mexico benefit from trade while they allow our borders to be assaulted with illegals, drug cartels, and human traffickers.

Other nations don't have to like us and who cares if they do? They will be made to respect us and when we speak, they had better step and fetch because America is no longer the loose girl at the party they can get their jollies with and then throw to the curb when we have outlived our usefulness to them. Those days are over.

Mexico does not have the concept of "due process" nor the type of immigration laws that we have. The President of Mexico can order foreigners to be immediately removed from the country. President Trump did a great job concerning this issue and I support him wholeheartedly.

The NYTimes disconnect with reality was on full display.

"President Donald Trump backed off his plan to impose tariffs on Mexico Friday night. The president's threat that he would impose crippling tariffs on the United States' largest trading partner and one of its closest allies brought both countries to the brink of an economic and diplomatic crisis--only to be yanked back from the precipice nine days later."

"Crippling tariffs? Economic crisis? Yanked back from the precipice?"
Talk about hyperbole!

And "Backed off his plan?"

Sounds to me like Trump had a plan, executed it, and it worked to perfection.

Yeah, Trump didn't surrender the way they made it out look. His use of tariffs resulted in exactly the response he wanted from Mexico. The tariffs worked perfectly to gain their compliance. Trump won.
