Sure, sure.

(CNSNews.com) - President Donald Trump said on Christmas Day that the partial shutdown of the government will not end until Congress has approved the funding for his border “wall, a fence, whatever they would like to call it.”

“I can't tell you when the government is going to be open,” Trump said in an exchange with reporters in the Oval Office.

“I can tell you it's not going to be open until we have a wall, a fence, whatever they would like to call it. I'll call it whatever they want,” Trump said.
He was man enough to be willing to lose this round to keep the airports, aircraft, personnel and passengers safe from danger and pay the federal employees, Coast Guard, etc.

If he successfully gets the OK from the SCOTUS (9th District will attempt to reverse it initially - or Hawaii) for a national emergency to build the wall that will be a TKO especially because he then gets to name the price tag.

Actually it's a good thing. He tried.

Some are saying the shutdown was for naught. Not true it showed the unrelenting leftist desire to depopularize him even at the expense of a real and present danger to America..

Nancy and company will still not give a dime for the wall. Three more weeks of after school fisticuffs.

Then he will declare the emergency which will be resisted and probably find its way to the SCOTUS.
The shutdown accomplished nothing. Only another example of Trump bravado. There is no imminent "emergency." This idea was fabricated by the administration. The eminent danger is to our health and safety due to Trump cancelling much-needed regulations for clean air and water and safe food.

Trump caved. Democrats said the only way they would consider border security is after the government was reopened. That is exactly how it unfolded.

Trump had a mini cave when he agreed to postpone the State of the Union address.

Along with Roger Stone being indicted, not a good week for Trump.

I mostly agree.

But, I believe the indictment of Roger Stone is a non factor.

The fat lady is beginning to hum. The real problem is the 6 Rinos that caved.

Republicans are cowards. Always have been.
Yes. It seems that Trump loyalists that want to carry out his agenda don't know how to get it done (Bannon, Stephen Miller, others) and the people that know how to get things done in Washington aren't always on board with Trump's agenda. Unless it lines up with their own agenda, as with tax reform and SCOTUS picks.

Trump could very well pull off the wall with the “emergency” option but the damage is done here. The government shut down for too long, hurt too many people and there was no payoff. Then you have the tone deaf Wilber Ross comments and you have a lot of angry people.

It’s too late for a TKO here. You don’t get credit for taking the fall in the fight you start and then try and appear as a man of the people.

Also, I'll make a prediction. Permanency for the Dreamers will likely be part of the deal to get the wall and frankly, I have no problem with that once the border is buttoned up nice and tight. In fact, I believe Trump's heart for the Dreamers was for this all along...

The only problem I have with that is thats what Reagan did back in the '80's - those illegals here can stay- but no more.
and how did that turn out?

Nonsense. Its only round one. Ma and Pa Kettle started it.

You shut down the government and then reopened it without any result. The only result so far is damage to the country. We are exactly where we were before the shutdown. Which means the country suffered for no reason. Even if the wall goes off with the nuclear option, others will wonder what the point of this shutdown was. You can’t walk this part back now.
