Trump Falsely Claims He Stopped Ford From Leaving Kentucky For Mexico

Even before taking office Trump starts telling lies to the American people. I expect this will happen often the next four years.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

President-elect Donald Trump claimed Thursday that he made Ford Motor Co. keep a factory in Kentucky instead of moving it to Mexico.

“Just got a call from my friend Bill Ford, Chairman of Ford, who advised me that he will be keeping the Lincoln plant in Kentucky - no Mexico,” Trump tweeted.

“I worked hard with Bill Ford to keep the Lincoln plant in Kentucky,” he said in a follow-up tweet. “I owed it to the great State of Kentucky for their confidence in me!”

After the tweets, a spokesman for Ford confirmed the company had reversed its plan to stop making the Lincoln MKC at a plant in Louisville, but the company had never said the plant would close.

“Today, we confirmed with the president-elect that our small Lincoln utility vehicle made at the Louisville Assembly Plant will stay in Kentucky,” the spokesman said. “We are encouraged that President-elect Trump and the new Congress will pursue policies that will improve U.S. competitiveness and make it possible to keep production of this vehicle here in the United States.”

Asked if the company had any prior plans to shutter the plant, the Ford spokesman said it did not. “No plans to close plants. This was about moving production of MKC out of Louisville Assembly Plant. That same plant also makes Ford Escape.”

Ford had actually made significant commitments to the United Auto Workers union to maintain production and jobs at its two factories in Kentucky.

During the campaign Trump incorrectly claimed that Ford was moving to Mexico, now he incorrectly claims he stopped them from moving to Mexico.

Chalk it up as keeping a campaign promise, getting something accomplished, and saving jobs.

Ctb ... do you like sour grapes? Because if you don't, it's about time you cease serving them in these anti-Trump fake news stories. Enough of the hate speach, shotgun approach smearing the new President-elect. You use a shotgun approach hopingone or more of the buckshot shards hit somthing that may resonate and become something to stir up the ire and ilk of the left leaning board members.

Well, keep trying crabby, you're bound to hit on something some day. Hahahsha. ;)

Let's see. Ford was planning to stop producing the Lincoln small SUV at the Kentucky plant, and moving it to either one of the existing Mexico plants (Cuautitlán Assembly plant,
or the Hermosillo, Sonora plant (where the Lincoln MKZ is presently assembled) or the Monterrey, Nuevo Len plant) or the Southwold, Ontario, Canada plant where the Town Car was assembled until it was discontinued in 2011.

Donald Trump talked to the CEO about keeping the Lincoln small SUV assembly in Kentucky. Ford agreed and the small Lincoln SUV will be continue to be assembled in Kentucky.

Nobody ever mentioned closing the plant or moving the assembly of the similar Ford small SUVs away from the Kentucky plant.

So, what crabtownboy's post does is show that what President-elect Trump said was completely true.

FWIW:

"Spokeswoman Christin Baker said Ford "confirmed with the President-elect that our small Lincoln utility vehicle made at the Louisville Assembly plant will stay in Kentucky".

"We are encouraged that President-elect Trump and the new Congress will pursue policies that will improve U.S. competitiveness and make it possible to keep production of this vehicle here in the United States," she added, in a statement...."

No, he didn't. He said Ford Motor Company was planning on moving the assembly of the Lincoln MKC from the Kentucky plant to the Hermosillo, Sonora plant where the Lincoln MKZ is presently assembled.

now he incorrectly claims he stopped them from moving to Mexico.
He talked to the Ford CEO and Ford has now decided to keep the assembly of the MKC in Kentucky. President-elect Trump never claimed to have "stopped" the move. Only that he talked to the Ford CEO and Ford decided to leave the assembly of the MKC in Kentucky.

Sad that some seem more interested in smear than truth. Speaking out so freely in one's aggression seems to lack consideration of the sin of bearing false witness?

“Thou shalt not bear false witness” forbids: “1. Speaking falsely in any matter, lying, equivocating, and any way devising and designing to deceive our neighbor. 2. Speaking unjustly against our neighbor, to the prejudice of his reputation; and (which involves the guilty of both)."

How about using a little balance of thought before jumping to these types of accusations? We need to stop focusing on vengeful false reporting and start focusing on the wisdom of truth.

ROFL. Hardly fake stories and now we know he was and is guilty of fraud. He settled so he would not go to jail.

Settling a law suit doesn't necessarily amount to an admission of guilt, perhaps Trump simply wanted to put this behind him as he has bigger and more important fish to fry. AND even if true this [Horse Laugh and switch of subject] IN NO WAY defends your fake story above nor does this totally fallacious answer even remotely addresses the argument made against your unscrupulous agenda of smearing the President Elect.
He settled so he would not go to jail.
Merely your opinion based on question begging your guilt claim and a demonstration of a serious lack of consideration of other rational thought or the moral implications behind the tired course you chosen to carry out here to smear our next President...

Only now, after the election is it being discussed at the detail level that Trump was talking about one assembly line at one factory at Ford being moved to Mexico. During the campaign he spoke of "divisions" or "factories" being moved.
