Bolton wanted to retaliate against Iran for shooting down one of our drones. Trump disagreed with him. (Didn't we deny a drone was shot down?)
Was Bolton too hawkish for Trump?
Musical chairs in the White House continues...
1. We finally jammed one of their drones and downed it.
2. Bolton probably was too hawkish for Trump so I think that you have the answer there.
3. I didn't notice if Bolton undercut Trump in public the way that Den Coats did. I want out of Afghanistan, also, but I think that we have to undo Obama's rules of engagement and let the military kill the Taliban totally. Kabul cannot stand without us. Our mistake was the idea that we could nation-built in Afghanistan so we acquired allies that are too weak to stand alone.
4. Russia has a professional state department. The USA does not have a professional state department. No one bothers to clean up foggy bottom and cut it down to size. It seems to be a repository of political hacks instead of professional experts. It is a national disgrace.
5, Trump has an unrealistic view of Islam. Iran gave Osama Bin Laden safe haven until 2010 and then Pakistan gave him safe haven until we killed him there. Islam is a militaristic doctrine and has conducted war the last 1400 years and will continue so to do until they have conquered the world and destroyed civilization.
