Trump said he would set the minimum wage at $10, but would like to leave it to the states. (It's called the FEDERAL minimum wage for a reason.)

There is a Federal minimum wage set by Congress, currently $7.25, which applies to all 50 states. States can set a minimum wage if they like but if it's lower than $7.25, employers in that state must pay the federal minimum wage. So it does no good to set it lower than $7.25.

as a drywall flunkie make 11 an hour... If kids at fast food are making a dollar less than me doing somethings that requires way less work or skill....then I will be mad.

The rich Democrat areas such as Hollywood and Malibu and Martha's Vineyard, etc., should set their own minimum wages. When the Clintons shut down the coal industry, then the minimum wage in Southern Indiana should drop to $5.00 per hour or less in those former coal mines and the surrounding areas, Indiana being a major coal state.

Recently the minimum wage was raised to $ 7.25 in Puerto Rico and it caused widespread unemployment as it priced Puerto Rico out of the Caribbean tourist trade. Many Puerto Ricans were forced to move to the mainland states and take low paying jobs in desolate areas like Indianapolis, a crime-ridden city with a per-capita murder rate higher than Chicago. American big cities are terrible places.

How much should the maximum wage be?
I've wondered if we made a sort of pyramid wage scheme if that would work. Basically, something like you can only make ten percent more than the person directly below you. Then, guys at the top would be raising the salary of those on the bottom to keep their salaries.
