Trump Lied

There is only imaginary connection between violent video games and actual violent behavior. Video games are therefore a convenient excuse peddled by gun rights activists, who Trump panders to, in the light of overwhelming evidence that gun violence is directly related to the number of guns as well as their nature.

I quote:
The proliferation of violent video games has not coincided with spikes in youth violent crime. The number of violent youth offenders fell by more than half between 1994 and 2010, to 224 per 100,000 population, according to government statistics, while video game sales have more than doubled since 1996.

Sure. Simulated violence and role play does nothing to shape behavior.

Do you know the difference between correlation and causation?

I'm pretty sure there is correlation between mass shooters and violent video games. Causation? I doubt it.
I would say more contributing factor than pure cause or only correlation

Correlation is statistical, causation is logical. Causation necessarily implies correlation but correlation does not necessarily imply causation. I use correlation loosely but my point is, there is no evidence that violent games cause violent behavior. This is from thirty years of study.

Don't be ''pretty sure", follow the data

This theory falls flat. There simply is no evidence. Violent games are not unique to America, and neither is mental illness. Yet these two are the most oft fingered causes for mass shootings.

I don't understand why there is desperation to associate these two(violent games and mass shooting) but I guess it is scapegoating. Mass shooting is revolting and any clear cause will receive heat and lose out. Since gun rights is a billion industry you can see why they will move heavens to avoid taking the flak. Gaming industry is also big, but independent research has been consistent in absolving them.

And what difference would they find between what the link says and what they would find in a google search? Mind you this question is being asked with my Admin hat on.

I don't understand your question but I'll try to answer it. I don't know if there is any difference between a Googled link and Googling. The link is a subset of Googling. What I meant was I really don't care, and I don't owe anyone an explanation of my username nor Avatar. Questions about any of these are diversionary and a distraction. If as an admin you feel I should, I could explain the rationale or motive behind the username and avatar. Do you need an explanation?
