Trump, most honest President ever!

Marc Thiessen of the American Enterprise Institute has written a column saying that Trump probably is the most honest President ever, which probably is not even a controversial statement.

"...Don’t get me wrong, Trump lies all the time. He said that he “enacted the biggest tax cuts and reforms in American history” (actually they are the eighth-largest) and that “our economy is the strongest it’s ever been in the history of our country” (which may one day be true, but not yet). In part, it’s a New York thing — everything is the biggest and the best.

"But when it comes to the real barometer of presidential truthfulness — keeping his promises — Trump is a paragon of honesty. For better or worse, since taking office Trump has done exactly what he promised he would do.

"...The fact is, in his first two years, Trump has compiled a remarkable record of presidential promise-keeping. He’d probably say it’s the best in history — which may or may not end up being true. It’s too soon to tell."

:LaughClassic.:Thumbsup Some of Barrack's bigger lies were the claim that it wasn't a tax increase, that it would drive costs down, and that it would stop freeloaders. He told some whoppers!

The article says he lies all the time to start the article and you all skip to the part where he actually told the truth while ignoring that nugget. :Roflmao

The rules say that you can only quote so much of an article. Trump's word is good. If you like your Obama, you can keep your Obama....

You seem to have missed the second paragraph of the OP:

I wonder what Trump gained from his lies/exaggerations about the economy or the "biggest" tax cut status? Not a thing. Who was harmed? No one.

But what did Obama have to gain from his lies? As far as obamacare is concerned and , "if you liked your insurance, you could keep it", it was to be his crowning legacy. Who did it effect? Everyone in America. His lies about the cost of Obama care? It affected everyone in America that either buys insurance or pays taxes.

You see, there's all kinds of lies. And we all lie. There's the well known white lie: Honey, how do you like my hair? Love it you say, when you actually don't. People lie to keep themselves out of trouble or avoid embarrassment. All kinds of lies. But the meanest , lowest , most rotten lie a person can tell is the one that harms someone else, in order to take their money or their rights while making yourself look better and to get what you want.

Just some random thoughts on the subject.

:RolleyesRead it again. It's not much of a nugget, really more like a grain. The "lies" the author cites are merely characteristic hyperbole, much of it rather mild, not the opposite of the truth. The author himself hyperbolizes here. ;)

I can't access the article cited, but I found this -

A court evangelical says what he really thinks

The Europeans are doing a lot of business with Iran so they don't like the American military position on Obama's bad deal. Iran is going to make a nuclear bomb no matter what and Israel and Europe will be the main targets.

As for Trump being in the service of Putin, that is nonsense. What is more likely is that Germany will become a Russian colony by buying natural gas from Russia, which they intend to switch off at will. Actually, the GOP has always had a tough line on Russia, dating back to the 1930s and Obama wanted a reset with Russia and said that he could be more flexible with Russia after 2012. That being said, the USA is beginning to pivot away from China, which opens up a chance for Putin to become civilized and join the West in the containment of an increasingly militaristic China that Europe cannot contain with their token military forces.

As for Trump's personal life, all we know for sure is that he was a playboy and was married several times. With Clinton raping women all over America but not going to prison like Bill Cosby because Clinton is white, the Democrats told us that personal sex lives do not matter. So the GOP voted for Trump over the lying, criminal Hillary with her Steele dossier hatched in the UK and incubated by the Clinton millions.

As for Franklin Graham, he is a nice guy, but I myself would not pin on him the leadership of Evangelicals, who really have no leadership. For example, the president of the SBC wrote a thesis that Jesus and Allah are the same, so we are not dealing with a bright light bulb there.

What do you make of his unilateral rejection of international treaties - with Iran, & the nuclear proliferation treaty?

There was no treaty with Iran, it was merely an agreement the Obama administration made. I'm glad Trump pulled out of it.

As to nuclear proliferation treaty--I presume you are referring to the INF treaty? If so, Russia has been violating it for years and China isn't covered by it. His threat to pull out of it is probably a negotiating ploy to get Russia to the bargaining table. I'm OK with that.
