What the Doom-and-Gloomers seem to not understand is that there are not only two options available - immediately fling the economy wide open on May 1 or hide under our beds for the next 12-18 months. We can keep a lid on the hotspots and develop plans for how to open restaurants, beauty salons, dog grooming services, etc., in the parts of the country that are nowhere near as affected by COVID-19 as densely populated areas such as NYC-New Jersey, Detroit, Chicago, etc. The vast majority of the country should not be restricted by the crises in large cities.

Whats bad about the long road down the shutdown path, is it extends maybe for years what eventually may happen anyway, which is everyone being exposed to the covid virus, rather than getting it over with, then over and done.

They have gotten some very promising drugs though such as Chloroquine, Remdesivir, Ivermectin, and others as treatment and will have an antibody drug by September. It is already developed and is going into testing NOW. It is an antibody vaccine using lab created antibodies. Scientists say it is working really well. Those scientists say it is ready NOW, but has to go through mandated testing, but iit ready to be produced in whatever volume is necessary NOW.

This shutdown is not cheap. There is so much sickness in China that few are going to want to go there. Only Taiwan was prepared for this pandemic because they know the depravity of communism up close.

I've not seen any evidence that it came from a lab in China and was released as a military weapon.

I think it was developed as a weapon, but I dont think they intentionally released it. I could be wrong. I can guarantee you we have biologicals that make Covid19 look like the sniffles.

China will steal everything and the stockholders should take a loss on this one. The tax laws will allow corporations to deduct their losses. I believe that China manufactured this virus in researching biological warfare weapons and it escaped from their Wuhan Lab or was released.

Europeans, such as the Germans, have stronger ties into China than anyone else. They probably will continue to do business with the Chinese Communists in a reduced manner. In the American case, our allies are Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and the Philippines and that will draw us away from China as unreliable. Trump is not going to tolerate Chinese military incursions as Obama did. We have already moved towards India, something that we have been trying to do since World War II.

Of course, it has been proven short-sighted to rely on China for necessities such as medicine and other vital supplies. These things must be brought back to America.

Sure, Nixon is the one who went to China in person and opened China up--about 1972 in the winter. Americans have thought that prosperity would soften communism but all money did for the communists was to allow them to build up their military and deploy more force against their neighbors. In other words, communism is incorrigible.
