Trump Quietly Continues Obama "Catch and Release" Policy at Mexican Border

President Donald J. Trump is allowing former President Barack Obama’s “catch and release” of illegal immigrants to continue deep into his administration’s term with no end in sight to the controversial open borders protocol. Border Patrol agents are once again sounding the alarm and alerting the public about the separation between DC’s rhetoric and the realities on the U.S.-Mexico border — a practice that the agents hoped would become unnecessary under the Trump Administration.

Though Trump’s interior enforcement of U.S. immigration laws has resulted in far fewer illegal crossings at the border, agents say that low numbers will not be sustained because the Trump Administration has not actually made substantial changes within border security as a whole.

Border Patrol Agent Brandon Judd, President of the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC), spoke with Breitbart Texas on Trump’s quiet continuation of Obama’s catch and release. He stated, “Obama’s catch and release is definitely continuing and our government is releasing illegal aliens into U.S. communities. The steps taken for such releases have slightly changed and the numbers are not as high, but it is still occurring. Under Trump, ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] is holding more illegal aliens than what they did under Obama, but make no mistake, ICE is still releasing a good number of illegal aliens into U.S. communities. Americans need to know this.”

The Comey testimony is a hilarious exercise in partisan politics at play. One of those rare instances in both sides declaring victory when both sides really lose. You'll get no responses here. It's where we are as a country. Nobody truly cares about half the issues they complain about, it's all about the never ending partisan scoreboard. It's pathetic.

I've quoted Shakespeare more than ever this last year with thinking "a plague on both your houses." Hypocracy from Democrats is nothing new, but to watch Republicans become everything they claim to hate has been disheartening to say the least. I truly believe we need 2 new parties if there is any hope for this country. We need a true conservative party, and also a Classical liberal party (emphasis on the Classical). At this point Democrats only care about expanding the role of the federal government in our lives, while Republican (who have no problem using those new powers that they decried when they were out of power) only care about winning the next election and not doing anything they actually promised (like repealing Obamacare, defunding baby killing planned parenthood etc.) Neither of which is what the founding fathers had in mind when it came to statesmen.

No, the best part is the writer - I'm sure you know who Darby is - this wasn't his best work in terms of research, though.

You want comments? Sixty-one percent of illegals were detained with Trump, only twenty-seven percent under Obama, which means the chances you got a "catch and release" instead of being thrown in a detention center have gone from 73% to 39%.

So why not to 0%. Well, Trump is quietly continuing catch and release because the detention centers are quietly jammed full - they have no room.

Open border attorneys encourage an illegal to request a hearing and the immigration courts continue to be further backlogged. It's not an easy problem to fix overnight.

My son-in-law works on the border at one of those detention centers. They are massively over-crowded.

The illegals who don't give an indication of being a danger to the community at large, who have requested mediation, are cited, given a court date, and referred to an immigration attorney (free of charge) and released. Less than half of them show up for their court date.

Until we either:

1. Finish building the wall.
2. Build massive detention facilities
3. Increase Border Patrol numbers by a factor of 10
4. Deploy the military to guard the borders
5. Treat illegal immigrants as an invading army and issue appropriate rules of engagement

There isn't much we can do.
