Trump shot

Dead. They don't need to question him.
I also do not see the constant desire to question murderers. I guess I do not see anything to be gained.

Did he believe the Democrat propaganda? Or was he simply mentally disturbed? Or was he trying to make a name for himself? Was he bullied in high school? What was his sexual orientation?

I can't see how an answer would matter.

Bystanders alerted the police, the officer investigated, the shooter shot and was killed in return.

Any more "news" isn't news at all. Just go forward and correct any found deficiencies.

Dan Bongino (who is a former Secret Service agent) stated that a decent sniper can easily hit a target out to 500 yards or more. So why is the Secret Service claiming the building the shooter used to fire at Trump (which was a little over 100 yards away) wasn't their responsibility? Other attendees of the Trump rally pointed out the shooter on the roof, yet nothing was done to eliminate the threat until he already fired shots at Trump. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. I won't jump to any concrete conclusions, but something does smell fishy.

Thos is misleading. The 20 year old kid obviously was not a trained sniper, but that said what seems to have saved Trump is he turned hid head.

The misleading part is that nobody responded until the shots President's. Two officers responded to a report when they received it, one seeing the shooter (who pointed the weapon at him). The shots were fired quickly afterwards and security responded.

I believe the rooftop should have been secured, but if it was and the shooter found another way then we'd question that as well. Former Presidents are simply not afforded the resources as are sitting Presidents.

That said, I am sure the alt-right will find "shooters on the grassy knoll". I hope Trump alienates those sheeple to an extent. It would be better for him politically.

Bad News: The FBI Is Investigating | Power Line (powerlineblog.com)

Excerpt:

"...the FBI joined the investigation but some realities were already clear. The FBI did nothing to prevent the shooting, perhaps because the bureau’s current priority is followers of Donald Trump, not those who might want to kill him. In similar style in 2017, the FBI did nothing to prevent Bernie Sanders supporter James Hodgkinson from shooting at congressional Republicans as they practiced for a baseball game, nearly killed Steve Scalise and wounded several others. The FBI played no role in the takedown of the shooter and claimed it was a case of “suicide by cop,” as absurd as the “workplace violence” designation for Nidal Hasan’s mass murder at Fort Hood in 2009. In that case, the FBI knew Hasan was communicating with al Qaeda terrorist Nidal Hasan but dropped the surveillance.

If the FBI knew about the potential Trump shooter and looked the other way it would be no surprise. Neither would hiding evidence about the shooter and his motive, as in the murders of DNC operative Seth Rich and DNC whistleblower Philip Haney...."

I agree this needs to be looked at.

But the article is inaccurate (not sure if they simply didn't check before sending it out).

The shooter was about 100 YARDS (not feet) from Trump. He was 410 feet.

The time between the 1st shot, per the article, and the shooter being killed was 12 seconds (they didn't call out "shooter down" until it was verified).

The article states that the shooter climed a ladder to the rooftop which was outside the secured area.

And the article does give the reason security wasn't as tight, although it doesn't expand on it.

With former Presidents they rely too much on local law enforcement.

The secret service should have, IMHO, been positioned on that rooftop.

Even out past 1,000 yards, and some non-military extreme rifle enthusiasts are hitting targets at that distance. Often the chosen cartridge is a version of one available for hunting deer and other big game. The sniper's bullet and powder load will likely be specialized, the rifle is much heavier than the usual sport hunting model (and usually fired from a rest) and the optics (scopes, rangefinders) are far beyond what the deer hunter would need.
An aerial pic had the sniper-to-Trump distance as 148 yards, not a particularly long shot for the average deer hunter. However, in my hunting for deer (since 1956), only once have I missed with the 1st shot and still filled my tag. For a 20-year-old non-military-trained (afaik) person, shot #1 would be the only chance to do anything but kill bystanders.

Yes the article is not completely right.

Is it not normal practice for secret service personnel to be on every rooftop and vantage point which a shooter can use?

This guy was very close to Trump and I am extremely surprised that he was missed by the SS

I don't know. They were not when former 1st Lady Clinton (yuck) visited Bosinia.

From what I understand (and this may be incorrect) former Presidents have a secret service detail but they are primarily super-dooper body guards and do not secure the area as they would for the POTUS. They rely a lot more on local law enforcement.

I guess they do not consider a threat on a former President as likely as one on a sitting President.

And NYC comes to mind. It'd be impossible to cover that type of area.

That said, I would think somebody would have covered that roof. I'm just not sure where the lapse would fall.

It was probably miscommunication. I wouldn't expect a secret service member to be on the roof, but I would expect a local officer to be there. It could have been oversight, but I think the rooftop would have been identified by the advance party.

I can remember when George Bush Jr visited London, the papers reported that he was protected by a small army of about 800!

I listened to an interesting speech from Matthew Murphy who is a retired Green Beret and level 1 sniper in counter assassinations voice his two cents on what happened. It clearly sounds to me like law enforcement dropped the ball. No excuses.

Just saw a story that the company “Blackrock” pulled a video that featured the shooter.

Did they train him? Blackrock stands to make billions rebuilding Ukraine and DT has promised to end the war.

Curiouser and curiouser………

peace to you

Nah. Crooks was only 20 years old. He was in the background (on the ad) with many of his high school students. The ad was produced at his high school.

Blackrock was producing the ad to target teachers regarding investing for retirement.
