Trump: Try US Citizens in Military Courts

(CNN)Donald Trump said in an interview Thursday that he would support trying US citizens suspected of terrorism in military tribunals -- a controversial proposal that would likely be challenged as unconstitutional.

The Republican presidential nominee told the Miami Herald that he doesn't "at all" like the idea of trying terrorist suspects in the civilian court system, even though US citizens are constitutionally entitled to due process.

it seems his supporters have forgotten that what starts under one president is expanded under another. We already know that the left views Christians as potential terrorist, so if Trump takes the power to try suspect in military court there would be nothing to stop the left from doing the same thing under their rule. Although given Trump's thin skin he would probably go after people that didn't kiss his ring.

No doubt. Such a slippery slope. It's mindboggling how everybody just shrugs off this stuff and in the same breath will cry about the second amendment.

Military tribunals are perfectly appropriate for non-Americans.

Americans have the right to defend themselves in a proper court, with access to full due process and the legal rights of a defendant.

To a certain extent, military tribunals are kangaroo courts designed to give a guilty verdict. I don't mind that so much for a foreign enemy. For an American citizen? The Constitution doesn't allow it, and, as other posters have mentioned, it's a slippery slope.

It's not even just a slippery slope. It's a waterslide with a constant flow of vegetable oil.

This blind Trump support is going to lead us into Fascism, and we Christians are going to regret it, unless the Lord returns.

It's because people own guns, but most people don't feel like they would be tried in a tribunal. They don't see the logical implications. Or worse, they don't care.

Obama had the idea to try international terrorists in American courts but gave up on that one fast. There maybe a "war on terror" going on, but a American civilian citizen can't be tried in a military tribunal, period.
