Retired Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn, a registered Democrat, is being considered by presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump as a potential running mate, the Washington Post resported Saturday, citing sources familiar with the vetting process.

The retired lieutenant general told ABC, “I grew up in a very strong Democratic family. But I will tell you that the Democratic Party that existed in this country is not the Democratic Party that I grew up around in my upbringing. Not at all.”

When asked about his views on abortion, a major topic that divides conservatives and liberals, Flynn shared an opinion that is not likely to go over well with Republicans should Trump appoint him as his running mate.

“I think women have to be able to choose what they … you know, sort of a right of choice,” he said, adding, “but I think that’s a difficult legal decision, and I think that women are so important in that decision-making process. They are the ones that have to make the decision because they are the ones that are going to decide whether to bring up that child or not.”

From 2014. He looks like he may have either found the Polo or Trump signature tie collection.

Who are these "sources" that would actually tell the WaPo anything about Trump's short list? Sessions says he's never seen this guy's name on that list.

Anything that rag says about the Trump campaign is suspect. No outsider- particularity some partisan hack - doesn't have access to this list.

WaPo cites multiple sources that wanted to remain anonymous. Trump campaign declined comment; Flynn could not be reached.

The New York Post ran a story on Flynn where he hints that he is being considered:

“One of the things I expect Mr. Trump would look for in a vice president is discretion,” Flynn told The Post, coyly declining to comment on being vetted by Trump.

“All I would say is that I have been honored to serve my country for the past three decades and look forward to serving in other ways now that I am retired from the US Army,” he said. “I’ve been a soldier too long to refuse to entertain any request from a potential commander in chief.”

Trump praised Flynn in a statement to The Post.

“I have a lot of respect for Gen. Flynn, and his advice is important,” he said.

Washington Post is just throwing rumors out there. They don't know much.

Washington Times thinks the choice will be Mike Pence.

Your title is a little (a lot) misleading btw.

The title is an outright lie. He just can't seem to help himself when it comes to his hate for Trump.

If I may ask - what about the thread title is an "outright lie"?

Flynn is also a self-professed Democrat
http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/11/politics/michael-flynn-general-trump-vp-option/index.html

Flynn, 56, is a registered Democrat in North Carolina....When he was asked by the New York Post last week about potentially being vetted, indicated that he would consider it.

Flynn told Fox News he is a “pro-life Democrat,” while describing it as a legal matter....A day earlier, Flynn had told ABC’s “This Week” that women are the ones who “have to make the decision [on abortion] because they are the ones that are going to decide to bring up that child or not.”

Lt. Gen. (ret.) Michael T. Flynn, who reportedly is on the list of presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s vice presidential picks, supports abortion and thinks homosexual marriage is fine, according to his statements in an interview with ABC’s Martha Raddatz over the weekend.

At the time ITL started this thread, absolutely nothing he posted was misleading or a lie.

I believe ITL is owed an apology.

Gen. Flynn was on Hannity last night talking about what he would bring to the table as Trump's Vice President. He also says he's a lifelong Democrat. If words from the man's own lips on Hannity's show is not proof that he's a VP Candidate and a Democrat, I don't know what will placate you people.

He is a "VP Candidate" for Trump. Not the GOP's VP Candidate, but one person under Trump's consideration.

OK. I'll go for that. So now your title is just misleading. You could have kept the one on the article, but there was nothing misleading about it. So, I understand.

Who knows, what I think could have happened here was Trump, the general and Trump campaign workers trolled the WaPo, threw out this guy's name just to keep Trump in the news. WaPo went with it, knew this guy was pro-choice and then they did a little bit of concern trolling: "He's a registered Democrat AND he's pro-choice"!!!".

But some other hack site, NBC News I think, says that this week Trump is appearing with Christie, Newt, and Pence and they are the Final Three. Sounds about right.

Agreed. The media's propensity to just jump on stuff ... and then other news sites interviewed Flynn, lending more credence to the initial WaPo story ... but as you pointed out, now Flynn seems to be out ... even day-time soaps don't have this many twists....
