If the leaders in Louisiana cared for their population like Mass does, perhaps Louisiana wouldn't need so much help.

I stand by what I said. Good for these guys.

I agree with Bro Curtis 100%. It may seem amusing for total mobilization for cartoon advertisements, but in today's atmosphere, what do you expect. The stupidity of it is the placement of the packages near major artieries of traffic. I hope that Turner and those responsible get nailed to the wall. Hope to see some heavy fines and jail.

Someone did. There was one up on Ebay earlier today, but Ebay killed the auction. Shame really, it might have been some good citizen trying to raise money to buy Boston some common sense.

The two guys who put up those light boxes have been arrested. I suspect more heads will roll before this is over. What a stupid thing to do in this day and age.

Why aren't those of you praising the authorities involved for their vigilance more upset that it took them several weeks to react?

The arrested guys aren't the brightest bulbs in the chandelier.

I know how they want to be careful about what they say, and so an attorney tells them to "no comment" most everything.

But they were flippant, smart-aleck, and rude when questioned at the press conference.

Pretty stupid. I'm sure the presiding judge heard their cavalier responses.

I'm not talking guilt or innocence here...but the dreadlocked guy especially got a double dose of the "jerk gene."

Um, advertising, remember? It would have been stupid to place them anywhere else.

This one is just an extreme case of the way the terrorists can get the weak and the stupid to cringe at butterflies.

    The very purpose of terror.

The very purpose is to make you react.

    And it is working.

Yep. No doubt the leaders of Al-Qaeda are rolling on the floor over this sort of stupidity.

They've made some of us afraid of their own shadows.

Land of the free, and home of the brave? Not if Dubya & Co. get their way.

The people in Boston must be extra-ordinary ignorant of technical stuff. The do-dads didn't bother anyone in the Seattle area. Must all activity be regulated as to not disturbe the bottom percentile of (whatever)?

The problem seems to have been that the bottom X percent in Boston were in charge of homeland security.

Apparently, millions of Bostonians went by the boxes without much concern. Our inobservant terrorist-watchers suddenly became aware of them, and hyperventilated.

What in the world does that last statement mean? I don't believe we have had an attack in the US since 9/11. I guess it must be in spite of our president rather than because of his efforts.

I will be anxious to hear your response after those in power now rescind the Patriot Act and other things that have stopped other attempted attacks in the US and abroad.

Freedom is a wonderful thing. You can mock, name call and impune anyone, even the president. As much as you make fun of this president...do you really think our country will be safer with someone like Hillary or Obama?

Kudo's to Boston... at least they took action. Sounds like it should have been done sooner, but they were willing to put their lives on the line. Shame on those mocking them. Our police officers deserve better than that!

Are you talking about Bush's efforts to enrich his friends, like those at Haliburton, all the while attacking our liberties with things like unauthorized wiretaps and the like.

I don't have much faith in the Patriot Act and doubt it has stopped any attacks.

    Yes, very much so!

Their snail-like response is what is most amusing!

You must be the last American who doesn't get it. Bush claims that the Patriot Act permits him to declare any American citizen as a terrorist, arrest him, and hold him incommunicado indefintely. And he now claims that even the Supreme court cannot hear an appeal from someone he so detains.

So much for the Bill of Rights. According to Bush, you now have rights, only so long as he thinks you should have them.

On the other hand, the loons running the WH have gone chicken little on us for all sorts of foolish things. But Bush decided that terrorism wasn't even a priority, shut down terrorist monitoring programs, and used his office to coerce the FBI into laying off observation of Saudi nationals. The FBI officer in charge quit in protest.

I'll certainly be interested in your evidence that going through library records and warrantless tapping of American citizen's telephones have nabbed any terrorists.

And Americans love it. It's one of the big reasons they despise Bush.

Do I think they would have shut down effective anti-terrorist progams as Bush did? Do I think they'd try to undermine our freedoms as Bush did? Do I think they'd mire us in a war that even Bush's own people admit made us more vulnerable to terrorism?

Nope. Don't think they would. And yes, we'd be safer if Clinton or Obama was president.

Bismark once said that a lazy and intelligent officer was a good commander. A dilligent and intelligent officer was a good exec. A stupid and lazy officer at least did little harm. But the dilligent and stupid officer was the one you want to look out for. I'm not sure what brought that to mind right now...

By disrupting an entire city? By sending the police out on a wild goose chase? To shut down some semi-obscene light brites?

Idiots like that richly deserve mocking.

It appears that the idiots were not police officers. The police merely did what they were told. Indeed, many officers passed by many of these signs many times, and didn't come unglued once. Do you really think they're that dumb?

I am as diehard a conservative Republican as anyone, but this statement drives me up a wall. We didn't have an attack between 1993 and 2001. Does that make Clinton the greatest president to ever live? With your logic throughout your post, clearly we have to blame Bush for 9/11. Clinton saved us until he left office and immediately we got attacked....

Or, could it be it just takes people who live in a cave longer to coordinate secretive attacks on the other side of the world than it would to plan dropping a bomb from a plane a couple hundred miles away from the target? Simple truth is, there are just more American targets closer now so they don't have to go as far to kill us.

If they want to hit us, they will. But why bother? We are doing more damage to ourselves with stupidity like in Boston and the Patriot Act than they could ever do.

I don't get this attack at all. The turner company sponsered a terrorist attack? Or did the terrorists actually have the time and resources to rig this stunt up themselves?
