What does ROTFL stand for?

I didn't know about the TNIV.

I enjoy:
David Jeremiah
Charles Stanley
Greg Laurie
John Macarthur
William Bingham (Baptist Pastor from KY, he comes on our local station)
Mike Sage (Baptist Pastor from VA, he also comes on our local station)

I have always struggled to listen to Benny Hinn (for obvious reasons) and Rod Parsley.

Tame it down please. That is rather charismatic.

Now we shall sing: Shall we gather at the river.

Now you can roll.

Cheers,

Jim
There you go Jim...sneaking in that Satanic Rock & Roll. Everyone knows rivers have rocks, and when you add roll, well...you are treading on thin ice there buddy!

I think I have been treading on thin ice all of my life. I do require very thick ice before I walk on water though.

Cheers,

Jim

The only preachers on tv that I will watch are:

Charles Stanley
David Jeremiah
James Merritt
Mick Bowen (pastor of Faith Baptist Church Knightdale, NC)
Adrian Rogers
Jerry/Jonathan Falwell

Beyond those I can't think of one preacher on tv that I watch. Most preachers on tv are crooks trying to get money out of people.

Big name tv preachers I advise everyone to avoid are:

Benny Hinn
Kenneth Copeland
TD Jakes
Joel Osteen
John Hagee
Creflo Dollar
Mike Murdock
Morris Cerullo
David Cerullo
Paula White
Robert Schuler

Sadly there are many, many others but those are the only ones that I can think of off the top of my head. To be on the safe side folks should avoid TBN unless Stanley, Jeremiah, or one of the good ones happens to be on.

I like Stanley, Jeremiah, and Rogers. Don't know anything about Bowen or Merritt. Didn't care for Fallwell. All I ever heard him talk about was money but didn't listen often. I am like Jim1999, I don't care much for TV preachers. They are a poor substitute for worshipping among believers.

I wholeheartedly agree with your list of people to avoid. However as I said earlier I have never heard of Creflo Dollar, same goes for Murdock. Frankly I think Biblical preachers ought to avoid TBN.

==If you have never had the displeasure of having to watch Mike Murdock try to con people out of their hard earned money count your self blessed. Mick Bowen is a pastor in Knightdale, NC. His services are aired around here on a weekly basis. Biblically solid, very good indeed.

I agree with your post. I saw a pastor I haven't seen in years a few days ago, Garner Ted Armstrong. Not sure if it was a rerun or not, but he fits into the same above catagory.

Haven't heard Garner Ted for years. He was a very charismetic speaker but as far as I am concerned, a heretic. I understand there have been some major changes toward orthodoxy in the Worldwide Church of God since its founder Herbert W. Armstrong died.

An illustration to show the danger of some TV preachers and I use the word loosely. One Saturday morning, more years ago than I care to remember, I turned on the TV and saw this kindly looking gray haired old man sitting there talking. I listened a few minutes. He was a good speaker and I did not hear anything that I could particularly take issue with. It was not until he finished that I found out it was Herbert W. Armstrong of the Worldwide Church of God. I had read about that heresy in Walter Martin's Kingdom of the Cults. Someone who was not familiar with that heresy could have easily been seduced by that man before they ever knew what he taught.

Not to get off topic but I thought O'bama was the only one around who could walk on water [unfrozen]. He would make a good TV preacher though since he conned over 50 million to vote for him.

And Cheers right back at you.

I understand why some would say that preachers should stay away from TBN, but imagine all the people that Charles Stanley and David Jeremiah can reach by being on TBN. John Mcarthur also did a great job of presenting the gospel on "Praise the Lord" one night.

I listened to Mike Murdock one sleepless night recently. I actually enjoyed to first part of it. He was pretty funny with his little folksy sayings. But then he went into his how-to-get-rich-by-sending-me-money schpiel and that was all I could take.

I only trust, Billy Graham. He never has done anything wrong. He was married, to the same woman, for over sixty years. And never cause, any controversy.
The others, I could careless about! :(
