Of course no one could come up with this precise formulation without being influenced by at least the wording with definitions of later writers influencing them. However, the doctrine and a synonymous interpretation and application could have been derived without reading them or else that teaching is not Biblical. If it is biblical, then it can be expressed equally in the first century as in the 21st century because the fine differences are found in the Biblical text.
I think JonC Servant's elaborate and pedantic post was a reflection of his subtle sense of humor in response to my humor about the swimming pool.

Something we should be reminded or made aware of is that during the period of time in which these dogma were being developed men took these matters very seriously and during the later years if one was not precise enough in their documentation the consequence could be banishment, to be accursed (excommunicated) or in some cases even to be put to death for heresy.

Not exactly the same as a bruised ego that we occasionally receive and suffer from those who disagree here at the BB (although some have been banished).

I want to apologize for the remark that prompted that response. It was presumptuous and ill-considered.
Thank you.
But it's really ok. Things get heated sometimes, and I'm not innocent of the verbal jabs. Ditto on the apology

My wife doesn't think I'm funny either. But, hey, that's what happens when you give introvert a keyboard.
